Levi Casboult, the Blues rookie that was tied up on that boat cruise, has walked away from a two-car collision where the other driver was killed.


Casboult was driving in Dandenong when a Nissan sedan driven by Samir Azemi allegedly veered across the Princes Hwy, hurtling the median strip onto the wrong side of the road and ploughing into his Holden Astra.

The 19-year-old promising key position player was at the wheel of his car when the head-on collision occurred about 10pm last night.

He was driving to a friend's house and was the sole occupant of the car, luckily walking away from the crash after his airbag deployed on impact.

The driver of the other car, aged 21, could not be revived by ambulance crews and died at the scene.

Judd a captain in title only due to Cuz's life self-imploding. Cuz was still the spiritual leader of that Eagles' premiership team despite his drug addiction.

Reading between the lines it seems the game was some sort of initiation, or just a carlton twist on one of those team building excersises. A young bloke it attached to his more senior 'buddy' at the wrist and then has keep up with him in the drinking stakes. Male bonding at its best! If this is true it is indicative of a dark culture at Princess's Park.

It also has me questioning Judd's capability as a captain. I could never work out why Judd as captain of the club, never stopped fevola from embarrassing himself and the club brownlow night. I thought perhaps he just happy to give fev enough rope.

Now he has stood by while, reportedly, a young recruit to the club who doesn't drink a real lot, has ended up drunk  after participating in some game that involves being tied to a senior player and drinking,.

If this is true perhaps there is either an ingrained drinking/boozy/yobbo culture at the club or judd as captain doesn't have the respect of the players to be capable of, or is afraid of loosing the respect of the players if he does, telling them enough is enough and they are overstepping the line?

He may be captain but i wonder if he really is a leader?

The gloss on Judd is well and truly off. Wasn't it claimed one of the reasons he left the Eagles was because of their dodgy off-field culture?

I think you make a really good point al to question whether Judd really has the respect of the Blues' playing group. It's all very well for Carlton to make such a big deal about younger players ordering salad because Judd did etc but the past year would say Judd was either content to join in the Blues' booze culture or he didn't have the ticker to stand up to it for fear of being outcasted. He did arrive at Carlton as their highest paid player by far and automatically given their captaincy. Was there any fear of stepping on people's toes as a newbie to the club? Has the initial gloss worn off in the eyes of his teammates where they saw Judd as a god when he arrived but may see him now as just one of the boys?

To be fair it doesn't help either when the Prez takes the players out for a drink at 3am on the Gold Coast. Nor did the Prez or CEO initially release publicly info about the incident involving Betts. Going by the Age they were hoping it would be swept under the carpet with the media's attention on Walker and Houlihan. Seems the booze culture runs from top to bottom at Carlton. This is the same Prez who said "we're Carlton, @#$% the rest". That 80s/90s arrogance is still alive and well at Princes Park but it's now 2010 and that arrogance has once again blown up in their faces. Times have changed but the Blues still haven't moved with them.

That video was a very long time ago, and things were different then, so it doesent mean that he still has the same mindset. What it does is gives an insight to the culture, and the arragance associated with that culture. What it does is makes it hard for him to be taken seriously if he tries to tell the players they have to pull their heads in. I wonder if he has talked to the players and explained the world has moved on, like it or lump it, things have changed and that this sort of behaviour would not be tolerated today?

I wonder if he even realises that this is even the case?

That was the pretty much my impression, but i dont know if he ever said it publicly. He may not have known what was getting himself into at carlton.

Bit ironic that west coast seemed have made some change in that aspect. St Kilda had culture problems that prevented Mal Blight from staying on as coach, but seem to have made some change to that. The latest fisco for them can realy only be argued on the validy/stupidity of the trade decision.

If Carlton's cultural rot stems right from the top then they will find the next few years very difficult. Elliot is an arrogant pig who repeatedly displayed his view he didn't have to follow the rules that other did.  The recently departed President seems to have had scant disregard for the rules as well.

Judd's squeaky-clean image has taken a battering since he joined Carlton. To leave one club because of their dodgy off-field culture to go to another willing to pay big $$$ with its own massive cultural problems makes him look like a mercenary. Especially as he made such a big deal about choosing Carlton and rejecting other clubs before he was traded  .

CARLTON released its 2010 marketing slogan with great fanfare the other week but, in light of the poor behaviour of a handful of the club's players in recent days, footy fans are now wondering if the stock bubbling in that hot pot is instead the old "lunatic soup".

Of course, "Can you smell what the Blues are cooking?" is arguably a notch up from last year's message ("They know we're coming"), but nonetheless it still has rival supporters' noses out of joint for three reasons:

1. Because it whiffs of Carlton arrogance.

2. Because people hate Carlton (and why would you not, considering it is a blue-blood club with a history of cheating).

3. Because it proudly displays three No. 1 draft picks secured by dubious game-day tactics, along with West Coast Eagle import Chris Judd, secured by a controversial financial arrangement with late president Richard Pratt's company, Visy.

It also clearly shows in the bubbling cauldron, the wings of an Essendon Bomber, prompting minor outrage and some amateurish (however, still applause-worthy) photoshop artwork from Dons bloggers on Bomberblitz.com (pictured above).

Let the photo-shopping and the sledging begin.
