Based on what I saw back in November I would be surprised if Craigieburn is finished by the 21st Feb.

Hope it is but knowing how the building industry can sometime's work especially on Govt projects ...well    :whistle :whistle ;D

I agree

We seem intent on just handing the SE suburbs over to Hawthorn without a fight.

Its wrong strategy always has been.

Well, for the first time in maybe 12ish years, I wont be going. Hated the change from Punht Road ("is our home"), but travelled to Jells Park. Sadly wont be going to Craigieburn

Jells Park and Craigieburn are equally miles away from my place so makes no difference to me.

Will miss the sequel to your awesome videos from last family day 2JD.

considering the investment in craigieburn as part of the clubs future, prob not the STUPIDEST place to have it ::), however, rather than run the risk of disenfranchising those that live on the other side of the earth perhaps we could explore other means to make our mark at Craigieburn, as in intra clu8b scratch matches et al...and get the family day to Punt rd if practical although it's prob reserved for cricket hence completely ruled out

bottom line is that it doesn't matter where they have it people are going to be unhappy.

What's the old saying? You can't please everyone

For me Jell's Park was an hour + trip

Craigieburn is 40 mins if the ring road is good

So it's not like either is around the corner for me  ;D

But as bojangles mentions the Club is investing in the Craigieburn - seriously you cannot expect to have a brand new state of the art facility given to you for $0 without having to give back something in return

As for the handing over the SE burbs to Hawthorn - the supporters Richmond have are there they aren't going anywhere - they've had the last what is it 5 or so family days out there, they have the Wantrina Club . You could almost use the same argument for every area in Melbourne.

Craigieburn is one of the fastest growing areas in the Metro area - so there is a massive untapped market there, the club would be crazy not to target it.

In a perfect world it should be at Punt Road but while cricket is played there during summer it is near impossible to schedule a family day at our HOME...

well said WP.  On top of the cricket, Punt Road is also currently undergoing the reconstruction so it's a mess.  No use holding it there this year.  Wouldn't hurt to hold it there next time when it is all finished and brand new just to show it off.  Either that or hold the pre-xmas training session at Punt Road next year when it would be lookign brand spanking new and impressive.
