Round 1 sides 2005 - 2010
« on: December 31, 2009, 05:17:15 PM »
Another example of how much our list has changed. Only 5 survivors left from Wallace's first side in 2005.

Round 1, 2005

B: Roach, Gaspar, Kellaway
HB: J.Bowden, M.Graham, Newman
C: Tivendale, Coughlan, Campbell
HF: Pettifer, Richardson, Deledio
F: Krakouer, Simmonds, Brown
R: Knobel, Tuck, Johnson
I:  Hall, Chaffey, Hyde, Jackson

There's 17 survivors from our round 1 flogging last year. Gone are Richo, Bowden, Brown, Raines and Schulz. So Hardwick needs to make at least 5 changes to that side for his first proper game in charge.

Round 1, 2009

B:    Newman,  Moore, Raines
HB:  Bowden, McGuane, McMahon
C:    Edwards,  Tuck,  White
HF:   Brown, Richardson, Riewoldt
F:     Cousins, Schulz, Tambling
R:   Simmonds, Deledio, Foley
I/C:   Thursfield, Morton, Jackson, Browne

The Blues will have at least 3 changes with Fev and Cloke gone and Judd out suspended.

Carlton
B: Paul Bower, Michael Jamison, Aaron Joseph
HB: Jordan Russell, Bret Thornton, Heath Scotland
C: Kade Simpson, Marc Murphy, Chris Johnson
HF: Ryan Houlihan, Jarrad Waite?, Jeff Garlett
F: Cameron Cloke, Brendan Fevola, Eddie Betts
Foll: Matthew Kreuzer, Bryce Gibbs, Chris Judd
I/C: Richard Hadley, Sam Jacobs, Mitch Robinson, Simon Wiggins

So many more to choose from next year that could completely change the look of that team.

In's could be:

Cotchin (injury free & fit)
Martin
Vickery
Post
Griffiths (injury free & fit)
Collins
Connors
Farmer
Graham
Nahas
Post
Rance
Grimes
Hislop
Thompson

Outs could be:

McMahon
White
Edwards
Tuck
Browne

Good to see that IMO there is more players to come in them out, the pre-season will sort a lot of them out too, cant wait.

Hang on only 5 are gone?

Richo retired due to injury not round 1 failure.
Raines has gone to brisbane.

Bowden played a fair bit of the year but his career was ending anyway

The only two players who played on the day it really finished were Brown and Schulz.

And 9 other players on the list who didn't play, but who says they weren't doomed anyway as they weren't good enough to make the 22 for round one anyway.

17 Tigers in yellow who owe the Club big time after last year debacle.

To come in?   Cotch, Vickery, Post, Martin, Nahas, Graham for Browne

For the Blues - Warnock for Cloke, McLean for Judd and Henderson for Fev. Waite no certainty to play either and he killed us off a wing in that first quarter.

So who would these players replace in that team?

With a bit of shifting and may one or two other changes depending on how fringe players in that side go over preseason under Hardwick but yeah not to dissimiliar to that. Tambling to go to Bowden's HBF then Nahas can slide in at FP. Martin at HFF in his first year where Browny was named. Cotch to replace Raines but someone else (Thursty) can play in that BP.

Why?? Has he been going that bad in the pre-season?? Honestly how do we know Hardwick hasn't been training him out of another position??

I dont think we (any of us) can pick who and who won't be playing in the NAB Cup or round one, but it's great trying.. :thumbsup

Who knows McMahon may end up a Champion, gee I would love that, that would kill sooooo many people wouldn't it.. :lol

How certain senior players are handled this year is going to be interesting. If Hardwick doesn't see the likes of Jordie and Kingy as part of our future they may spend most of his time at Coburg. On the other hand they may be used as "cannonfodder" in a losing side this year while the cubs are allowed to develop in their own time.
