Jake King - nuggety defensive forward? (afl site)
« on: January 12, 2010, 03:56:35 PM »
Another King up forward?
Mic Cullen
afl.com.au | Tue 12 January, 2010

Just in from Punt Road - "Is nuggety defender Jake King about to become a nuggety defensive forward? King trained with the forwards as Richmond went through their paces at Punt Road this morning. King has nine AFL goals to his name, including a career-high five in 2009." - Reported by AFL.com.au's Mic Cullen.

Were any of you die-hard Tigers fans at training today? What do you think about the possibility of King being used to fill Richo's massive shoes?

So yes I hope King gets the chance to play forward, he proved to be elusive down back when running out of defence, I think if he can break the lines up forward he could end up with 2-3 a game with maybe a few bags of 4-5 as well.

Whoever he picks up will drag him straight to their full-forward spot.

I'm afraid his days are numbered.

King plays better as a tagger eg when he beat Shaw in the Sydney game. Nahas is a better defensive forward.

Would much rather see Jake up forward.
In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.

Whatever King was so far a the positions he played it was clearly not good enough for the current coaching team, good on them for pushing him forward.

How many new coaches have gone into teams, changed an average player playing out of position into a fantastic player finding their proper position.

Have faith lets hope it works.

True Mr Magic, but no harm in trying something new with him. Give him a run up forward in the practice matches and with Coburg. If he happens to show something well and good, if not then you havn't lost a lot.
