ah dan connors  to date has done very little. in fact hes living of the old potential tag.
4th yr he needs to show he belongs or he goes.
imo theres been to much lair and not rnough plain hard work.
chuck him  to hb and lets see if that doesnt keep him switched on.
ah seems to have done the trick. must admit a very astute poster over on pre  a while ago put the notion in my head that connors needs to play hb.

had a good game did connors his ball use was mostly good as well.
polo sheesh some things just dont change. when will people wake up to this bloke.

Oh well looks like I am not the only one to think Connors looked good, "USED IT PRETTY WELL UNDER PRESSURE". Where is Polo's name??

Richmond

Believe it or not, but there were positives to come out of this massacre. Daniel Connors won plenty of the ball, used it pretty well under pressure and finally looks ready to claim a place on a stuff. Draftee Dustin Martin is not only talented, but tough, and strong bodied – the Tigers will be hard-pressed to keep him out of the team, at least for the first half of the year. Up forward, Jack Riewoldt and Robin Nahas made the most of their chances when they came, David Astbury hit the ball hard up forward and David Gourdis showed some composure whilst battling against the odds in defence. The sobering reality is that it will take many more matches before this squad gels, and even then, they are inexperienced or deficient in so many areas that new coach Damien Hardwick must be cut a lot of slack. And if they persist with tough ball-winner Tom Hislop up forward, where his atrocious kicking was showcased on Saturday, ulcer medication will be needed before May.
Did not play: Ben Cousins, Nathan Foley, Daniel Jackson, Troy Simmonds, Will Thursfield, Troy Taylor, Jordan McMahon. But, outside of the first three, how many of those players will get a game, and make a big difference, come the regular season?
Next: NAB Challenge v loser of Geelong v North Melbourne, Saturday February 26, 4pm, Yea.

Sorry Bruce Almighty, I didn't write the stuffing article but I do agree he did play well under pressure, yes he did turn the ball over just like 80% of the team but he still had a good game CONSIDERING!!!

You are right though some people on here do have no idea.. :wallywink

And that is why the RFC are where they are.
They have ruckman who cannot mark or get near the ball.
The have defenders who continually turn the ball over by foot- Connors  Rance etc.
Whats even more amazing is that they have this mind seat that Connors will take Raines old role ,LOL :banghead :banghead

Well Jack when Connors had his good year or half year free from injury I can't remember his kicking being as bad as you describe. Please remember it is the first real hit out so give him a go, at least he found the ball,  now go take some Panadol, your head must be pounding by now.. ::)

yep he had a good game in anyones language, and yeah he turned it over a few times but in the main his kicking is sound very sound. and he used it well in the main.
will admit i had the blinkers on a bit with him in the first quarter.sometimes we all see what we want to see.  not the first time ive been guilty of it and it wont be the last. he has talent  we need to find a way to make sure he achieves his potential.
will also say though im not so blinkered as to think hes in a make or break season.the old potential tag can only take one so far.

Good to see a bit of sanity creep back in. Once most people make a call on a player, good or bad, they will then only ever see the things that back up their original judgment.

ah i think you have it wrong. i didnt notice the turnovers in the first quarter hence the comment sometimes you only see what you want to see.  this kid has talent i think he has a future and i missed some skill errors.

yep edwards i agree i still think him a very poor user  and way to small to play where he needs to play.geez people have a go at hislop in regards footskills  this kid early last yr was as bad as it gets.

will give him some credit though disposal or more appropriately decision making has improved to the point where its passable abut you just know under real pressure it will all fall apart.

imo he is one we need to upgrade on. skinny running players who are forced to play outside must have very good footskills and decision making. id be prepared to gamble on another player and risk he becomes a decent player at another club.

Crap 1st half. AFL standard in the 2nd but the jury still out on this bloke.
Reckon he's lucky to be on an AFL list but struts like he's the best player in the league.
Has some talent but plenty with more have ended up on the scrap heap.
Make or break season IMO.

[Comment From PetePete: ]  Will Daniel Connors break out this year?

[ Wayne Schwass: ] He has been in the system a little while, he is a good kick and knows how to find the ball. If he can cement a regular spot I would seriously consider him. Will be cheap (dreamteam) and is a gamble that might pay off.

Having a preseason finally behind him seems to mean he's getting to the ball now and not drifting out of games. Interested to hear from WP and anyone else who went to Yea on Daniel's kicking off HB and whether he's woken up to doing the basic things right such as discipline and accountability rather than trying to do just the flashy stuff.
