IT'S been a while since recently retired Richmond champion Matthew Richardson has had a "real'' job.

Richo reported for duty yesterday at Punt Rd in his part-time job in the commercial operations department, where he'll perform an assortment of marketing, sponsorship and membership duties.

On his first day on the job, he admitted to a 1 1/2-hour lunch break which he explained was more of a business meeting with captain Chris Newman.

Richardson, who had a full-time job at Lend Lease Advisory Services when he made his debut in 1993, will also be kept busy with his media commitments.

"I started playing when all the players had full-time jobs,'' he said. "I have experienced the workforce before and I'm not one of these Gen-Y guys who don't know what it is.''
