although not my choice i think if fit he will play most games.
my logic in this is we have 4 ruckmen. simmonds, graham, vickery, browne, perhaps polak if needed.
two of those 4 are not ready that is vickery and browne. if griffiths and astbury get say 11 games each vickery wont play forward or as a forward.
unless he is phsically ready he wont be asked to ruck to often either. i think browne and vickery will spend most of the yr at coburg.
this will leave simmonds and graham for the seniors. i reckon as long as both are competetive (sorry spelling) both will burden the ruck duties this yr. do i expect much from graham well the answer is no i dont believe him to be up to standard or capable of achieving the required standard i really hope he proves me wrong.
some people i know say vickerys development would be better if it were at afl level and i would normally agree but he just does not have the size and if played in the ruck atm is an accident waiting to happen.
last yr he clearly got hurt a few times to his credit he grinned and bared it but. keep getting hurt and sooner or later he will become gun shy or seriously injured.
patience is the key with all our young players by all means give them games when possible but we need to manage them properly.
finally i would say in some ways browne is more ready than vickery at 205cm and 105kg he has the frame and bulk to go. but hes on a massive learning curve and very raw and a different type of ruckman he has much to learn and needs time at a lower level.
i hope both boys get some games this yr and for sure with ruckmen injury will mean they will likely get a few games.
