Sam Mitchell comes to Hardwick and Richmond's defence
« on: February 16, 2010, 01:18:40 PM »
The Hawks skipper jumped to new Richmond coach Damien Hardwick's defence, comparing the Tigers to Hawthorn when coach Alastair Clarkson arrived at the club.

"It might be some frustrating times for some Richmond supporters, but if you stick with Damien Hardwick, you're not going to go too far off the right track,'' Mitchell said.

"If you go back to us in 2005, Clarko's first year, you would find all the players who are playing now, we were heavily criticised. Our kicking efficiency was 16th and Hawthorn was heavily criticised. It takes a little time to learn new structures. I think their (Tigers) skill level is OK, it's just perhaps putting it together and knowing where your teammate is going to run. Once you play together for a while, you become well poised.

"If you look at the premiership sides, generally your back six play the whole season together. You look at Geelong's, it hardly changes. And they get Josh Hunt back into that mix and that's a key part to a successful side, having players play together and Richmond hasn't got that right now.''

I suppose he's on a planet where in 2005, "Our kicking efficiency was 16th and Hawthorn was heavily criticised." yet won a premiership 3 years later
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."

Shame most have missed the part where he says part of it is "knowing where your teammate is going to run"

Same with having team mates work hard to get into space
Team mates blocking someone's opponent so they can get into space

Disposal looks much better when you have someone running free and not trying to thread the eye of a needle on a 1% chance

I'm not missing any point
They're just words and if he seriously believes we'll be like them in three years then I'd like to see that.
We could be premiers five years in a row
Could, but more than likely not
Just words
How any of y ou can be excited by last week is beyond me
But I'm patient  ::)

Exactly Infamy.

Countless times against the Tigers, opposition defence kicks a 50m pass to a guy who is 30 metres in the clear. This doesn't have to be a pin point pass, it only has to be in the general vicinity.

When we're coming out of defence we're trying a 15 metre pass that has to be spot on, otherwise it's spoiled and turned into another opposition forward thrust.
And you may not think I care for you
When you know down inside that I really do

Not sure why anyone has to "Defend" Hardwick or anyone else at the club for that matter, if people don't understand where we are at the moment then perhaps we need to defend those people for being so stuffing stupid.

“We are really excited about what we have brought in. We have got great depth of players that can take us where we need to go. We are just putting some cream on the top at the moment,” he said.

Continually saying where we are at, how it was the same at the Hawks, how it will take time, how the game plan will take the players 1 month, 3 months or 6 months to learn. Hello we all know this so lets just get on with it, why the continual articles about the same poo.

Do you get it now?????

And, it seems, the recipe for beating Richmond is pretty well known.  Pressure the ball carrier, clog up the corridor and tackle them hard for the first 10 minutes of the game and they will collapse.

It will take some time and some fresh faces to change that.

Well I don't want to be a smartarse here and say where about in my post did I say that, because it was a short post lol
I was referring to the bloke who has a premiership, he is on a pretty good planet dontcha think?  The one making the statement.  The one in a strong side looking like they will be playing finals again this year reassuring us to have faith in Hardwick.
