what he was asked to do under rawlings, that is no hiding and head to head vs the best in the business. Play him against the likes of tyson edwards, kerr, burgoyne, Judd, sewell, cooney, ling/corey/bartel. He destroyed Gibbs last year kept him statless until the last minute of the first quarter whilst racking them up himself, then went onto Judd who tore Jackson apart in the fist half and beat him head to head in the 2nd half.

Im hard on Lid's but on potential I rate him higher than any other richmond player, he's probably potentially the most destructive player on our list, has the tools to be a top 10 player in the league easily, even more! just want to see the fire burning in him, the will and want to take on and beat everyone, I was worried he was too comfortable with where he was at (typical richmond player trait!)but I believe he got that shaken out of him last year and really does want to go to the nex level. My honest take on him is that he's a nice easy going character(nice boy), has no mongrel in him and needs a cracker lit under him to get him to push through barriers he otherwise wouldn't. This is his year  :bow

big big big big big season for Brett.

i expect more goals rotating across the half forward line.

80% playing in the midfield, like Hardwick said, "good players should be around the football!"

Shouldn't have won it last year...players were very surprised when he did.
When has he displayed leadership qualities?
There are others with more leadership qualities in their big toe.
I wish he would show some I really do, & I hope he has a big season but the jury is out on Lids IMO. He's been in the system for 5 years now.

Beren tell us about your wonderful leadership qualities , you amaze me you talk like it is lids fault that he won the b&f, that he should be ashamed or something . It is unthinking, unthoughtful critical , meally mouthed trilobites that should be ashamed. I'm sick of no hoping dills having a go at our players for no reason, the question was brett deledio -2010 expectations and beret attacks lids with hearsay from so called players. I'm wondering if it were true which players have the right to be critical especially publicly.

Have to disagree

Certainly deserved his B&F as his 2nd half of the year was excellent espeically in the areas (defensive side) that he gets criticised for

I don't understand how you can say he hasn't shown leadership qualities? Round 22 last year he captained the team and although we got pumped Lids lead from the front, didn't frop his head (unlike so many of his teammates). I thought night showed his leadership qualities, especially thee hard work he did when he didn't have the ball (probably not picked up on TV).

Then there was his effort coming back on against Freo in Perth last year when he copped the knock to the knee which would have kept some blokes off the ground

Then there was the game against the Bombers.... I could go on.

Actually up Yea on weekend again his leadership was on display and BTW during the autograph signing after - guess who was the last to leave the ground ... yep Lids

I honestly expect him to be our next captain, that's how highly I rate him. Finally considering the playing group basically chooses the leadership group I think it is fair to assume that he is highly thought of by his peers

My expecatations for 2010: another step forward - he will games for us in 2010

I hope your right about that WP. He has the class to take games by the scruff of the neck and I'd like to see him do it.

Definitely improved once Wallet left the arena. I am sooo glad Terry couldn't get his mits on Lids for much longer.

I am continually astounded by the flack our best player(by miles) cops by some supporters.
Brett Deledio is but one player in a squad of 40. That's right 40.

Too often at Richmond a player who shows more ability than his peers (ala Richo) become the pointy end of supporter frustration. These guys are super talents but they are not supermen, they need their team mates to help. Our depth has been poor for years in this regard.

Brett is an absolute standout amongst his peers and I am hoping to hell that he starts to get some support from his team mates because it will help his own game tenfold.

Imagine Lids at the Cats for a second?
We are lucky to have him.

Just on peoples comments about how good Lids was in the last half of the year, he was also pretty good early last year too. I remember seeing his name on the Sunday Footy Shows top 6 or 7 vote getters for the league done by the commentators about round 7 or 8. (The Lou Richards Medel i think they call it)
This guy is a star and is our best player by the length of the straight at Flemington.
So pull your heads in people questioning this kid.
As Mr Magic said "we are lucky to have him"

2010-  another B&F and the silencing of peanuts on this forum!  :pray
