Simmo on 3aw @ 7.15pm
« on: March 02, 2010, 07:24:22 PM »
Summary of Simmo with Healy and Russell

* Healy reckons Simmo has a few more years left and would like to see Simmo up forward.

* Simmo said he hasn't be down at FF all preseason. Been training as a ruckman with Lade and Hardwick and helping with the development of our young ruckman. Enjoys playing FF though.

* Ruck does take it out of you but with the young guys coming through he'll be playing 50-60% gametime.

* Club is in a period of transformation - new players/coaches - new plan drilled into us - came out in Yea but not in Lanceston. It clicked in Yea. The young guys Taylor, Roberts, Dea all did well.

* Over his career he's seen complex game structures - you do understand it but it takes time as a group. Simmo said he's learnt more about the game this summer than in the past 5 years - everyone has a role and knows their role - he knows what patterns our defenders will use coming out of defence, what patterns our mids will use, etc. The point is to stick to our gameplan.

* Round 1 - excited first game of the season against old rivals. Kept pretyy quiet this preseason. Not pumping it up.

* Definitely been told to keep quiet and head down by Hardwick and and agreed with healy that Hardwick thinks there's been too much talk at Tigerland.

* Spoke about the pulmonary embolism he suffered in 2007. Now into heart health and with the heart foundation. Has written a book which will come out this year - 3 keys: attitude, eating, exercise.

* Cotchin hasn't signed with the Gold Coast as far as he know. Part of our leadership group now. Hopes he'll resign soon.

* Healy said there's a new word down at Tigerland and asked callers to ring in - "Transformation".

* Simmo admitted they've been told to say "transformation year" rather than "rebuilding year".

good idea, as a salesman I can tell you transformation has far more positive references than "rebuilding" that implies we're coming from ground zero...wise choice :thumbsup

He said that he'd learnt more this summer than in the past 5 years rather than ever before.
Another slap for Wallace.

"I discussed (it) with my three daughters, my wife and my 82-year-old mum, because it has really affected me … If those comments … were made about one of my daughters, it would make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I would not have liked it at all.”

Okay. I was typing as I was listening so it was a bit rushed. I'll edit my first post.

LOL Magic  :lol

The proof will be in the pudding how quickly they've learnt it all when they apply all these new structures in a real game of footy come round 1.

I don't see Simmo as a FF. Lacks the speed for a permanent role down forward.

Hopefully Simmo is right about Cotch and he re-signs soon to put all the ridiculous speculation finally to bed.

and to think so many on here were in love with this fool still baffles me

Hardwick has already performed better in 3 months than Wallace did in 5 years.

Whats even more baffling again is that it wasn't about loving him at all, it was about sticking by the club and coach's no matter what, don't worry the first foot put wrong by Hardwick will have the old Wallace knockers forming a new Hardwick lynching mob.

Hardwick was always the man for the job IMO. He has done nothing for anyone to think he is another Wallace. He hasn't put a spin on anything to date in fact does the opposite.

Has recruited youth and dumped dead wood so IMO he is streets ahead of that stuffwit.

Hardwick has 3 years to get it right but i think from next year the improvement will come. This year we will finish near the bottom and i dont expect to finish any higher. It wont bother me at all as long as i see gradual improvment by next year. With the king of spin all i saw was game plan changes every week, players development getting worse by the week, players on the field when injured, and lots and lots of selfish spin which was proven on his final outing against the Buldogs.

"If im to take credit for the Tigers recruitment then im also to take credit for the Buldogs as well" said from the biggest loser to ever coach a football team

As i said Hardwick is streets ahead of him both on and off the field

Hardwick hasn't even coached a senior game yet.
Let's see how he goes in time before singing his praises.

I like the idea of slotting him in at FF but isn't it just a bit late now?

I think we probably need to drill Jack ,Morton and Polak instead of going backwards.

All the best to Simmo.

Hope he turns it around.
