great summary wp, much obliged, interesting with hislop, thommo and Kingy, they all exhibit great tenacity however only one should be played and in my mind it's kingy...is cleaner with his handlign of the pill, is quick and Im hoping that playing in a role closer to goal /Mid may cover off the brain fades on the last line of defence....with kingy likely to be unavaialble then none...play Nason or Roberts or both

RR played inside F 50.
Nason in between F50 and D 50.
Can win his own ball, which is alot more than I can say about some of his teammates

WP, you summary is spot on :thumbsup we were obviously at the same game,  :shh
Interesting thing with Dean Polo.
I did the long fun run this at bumped into Dean about to do the short fun .
Fair effort after a game of footy, considering he had training afterwards today at 11.00

Also watching Simmo yesterday will mean the end for Gus Graham :pray. Even before the season starts we already have players earmarked to be moved on at years end.

I am also really concerned about Thompson.  Needs to win a bit more of his "'own ball"".and not just run along side the opposition when they have are about to gain possesion.
Really disappointed with Kel Moore.

McGaune wasnt flash either, although had serious injury some 3 weeks ago

How hard was the kick in the nuts?  :o

A thing that i've remembered about the game is the switching of play.

The Bombers would switch quickly in the D50 and then kick back into the centre of the ground.

We would switch quickly, but then get help up on the D50 line, and the only guys providing an option down the wing were Nason and Roberts.
And you may not think I care for you

I was following this game via the RFC blog, and aside from the fact that the Bummers seemed to consistently score 2-3 more heavily than us throughout the day  ??? (and even more towards the end) it was hard to gauge exactly how it all unfolded.
The question I'd like to direct to anybody who actually went is: What happened in that third quarter, when we seemed to have all the momentum?
'Coz at one point we seemed to be on the verge of really fighting back to the point that we might overhaul them. I think we'd kicked 6 to 3 for the qtr at that stage. A post came up that our midfield was on top, then it went quiet for a while. Then our scoring just dried up completely from that point. What happened???

Keep in mind we were 7 goals down at half time.
Essendon took there foot off the peedle for about 8-10 minutes.
Nothing quarter when you cant kick a goal in the next quarter..
Rotations on there behalf resulted in us getting a run on

I thought and I said this at the time it had a bit to do with simply playing man on man footy in the 3rd

In the 2nd in particular the Bombers had alot of blokes free with no opponent. That didn't thappen in the 3rd but made an ugly reappearance in the 4th

Its not a lot to cling to but again i find some comfort in the fact that they could get a run on when permitted.

In the past once the cue went in the rack it stayed in the rack, no matter what the opposition did. Footscray in particular knew that once you got on top of richmond it was party time and you could become unaccountable because no one would hurt them for being so.

Now we have seen on a number of occasions, even when getting a belting, if the opposition drop of their intensity things will start to work. It means they are still trying to execute the game plan

I really hope footscary win their first game easily and think they only have to turn up to win against us

Disagree about Essendon taking the foot off the peddle they were going full bore throughout the game.

Well I dont agree, stood behind the Essendon interchange in the 3rd quarter, can tell you that Watson, Monfries ,Stanton spent more time off the ground for the quarter than on.
And guess what, they spent most of the time on the ground in the last quarter. Funny about that. ::)
My view on the game is that the scoreboard flattered the tiges,
Thought we were absolutely horrible, especially from about 10 mins in the second, thats when the rot set in.
Completely lost all structure after hanging in there in for the first quarter.
I also thought we were extremely undiscipline for most of the game.Hislop especially.
Pointless being somewhat competitive for the third quarter and getting flogged in the last.
Means the team is mentally weak when then happens.
Players cant carry out instructions when tired and under presssure.
6.2 to 0.3 in the last quarter is hardly a good sign.

So you don't see being able to stand up and show some sort of fight, even if only briefly is not an improvement on not even being able to stand up and show any sort of fight, no matter how much disrespect the opposition are treating you with?
