Zoning or One-on-one?
« on: March 30, 2010, 06:07:26 PM »
What is the best way for us to play at this point in time - to zone or not to zone and just go one-on-one?

From Robbo's blog...

The zone has changed in parts this year. Instead of flooding back and setting up a wall, clubs are now flooding towards the contest. At Coll-Dogs on Sunday, and Saints-Swans on Saturday night, at stages it looked as though there were 30 players around the ball.

It’s why there has been some easy goals kicked because teams win the ball in the middle, get it out, and kick over the advancing defenders. I was told by one coach all clubs would be doing it. He was partly right. Richmond tried to do it, but as will happen when poor teams play the best, they had to resort to one on one football to stop the rot.
