Jayden Post Vs Dayne Beams

Post Vs Beams

Jayden Post was picked 26, Dayne beams was picked 29 in the 2008 Draft.

i have 2 questions.
who has developed and been more influential on the game the most?
or is it more to do with what we have seen with many other players richmond just havent been able to develop the potential out of our players as quickly as other teams have?

 :clapping  Well said X.

Also, for a start, Post is a tall that puts him a year or two behind in the first place.

Secondly, this poo happens all the time to all clubs.

Other players that were higher picked like Jackson Trengove, Shaun McKernan, Mitchell Brown, Lewis Johnston, Tom Lynch and Phil Davis just for a start have not performed anywhere near Dayne Beams form and below Post as well, does that mean we can use that in isolation to say Port's, Adelaide's, Geelong's, Sydney's and St Kilda's development is worse than ours.  Of course you bloody well can't.

Stop looking backwards, the future is the other way.

Post will be a gun CHB who will contribute to a premiership. Beams is a smart ass kid who has vomit all over 1 arm and the Pies will probably finish another year in the top 4 without a premiership  8)

Comparing a kpp to a midfielder in both of their 2nd seasons.
What a stupid comparison

Why don't you compare him to Shaun McKernan who was taken two picks after Post?

this thread seems to be about why we took post and not beams its not about comparing them to each other, anyway on all counts Beams wins  :banghead

So the fact that we had a massive hole in our list of quality talls means we focus on taking some early in the draft, yet now were are critical of the club for not taking another midfielder?

God some of our supporters are stupid.

How many times do we have to "compare" players that we did not pick against players we did???? Fair dinkum these threads go way back to Fiora and it just keeps going on and on and on. Do you think the Hawks still carry on about Ablett.... I very rarely hear about that stuff up. That would have to be the worst decission ever made by a club in the history of de-listings/drafting.

I suppose it wasn't the RFC though so lets not bag them... ::)

In the end we have what we have, lets just deal with it eh!!

this wasnt my thread by the way, im just clarifying what the thread seems to be about! On your point about lack of quality talls - yes I agree, but do you believe that young Posty was going to be a quality tall? Many dont believe that to be the case, and in terms of taking another midfielder, most of us would prefer to have Beams than Post, you always get the player who can play, not the player you hope can play! :gotigers

Post showed in his first year that he looked like he was an astute pickup for a mid 2nd rounder. Sure he's gone backwards this year, however at any other club he wouldn't have even debuted yet. He didn't really deserve his call up last year, however he looked like he played better at AFL level than VFL.
I understand he has gone backwards this year, but we shouldn't be making judgements on our players, especially kpps in their 2nd year.

Stupid, stupid, stupid thread
