David is a tough half-forward/midfielder with excellent skills on both sides of the body. He is an international scholarship player with Essendon, currently playing with the Calder Cannons in the TAC Cup.

SOUTH AUSTRALIA
Sam Day (Sturt/Prince Alfred College)
September 6, 1992, 195cm, 90kg
He's an AIS-AFL Academy graduate. He's a mobile, key position tall who can play in the ruck and played centre half-back in last year's championships. He has fantastic athletic qualities. His vertical leap, speed and agility are in the top echelon. He's also a multi-talented sports player, having played baseball at state level. Sam played all games in the championships last year, bar one, and is an elite basketballer as well.

Jared Polec (Woodville West Torrens/Seaton Ramblers)

Groenewegen isn't as big as Griffiths  :cheers

I like the look of Darlng but I'm imagining the GC will be keen to take the best of the forwards and mids in their first three picks which I would imagine Darling is. I would say we would more than likely take another midfielder with our first pick because there's typically more midfielders in every draft and usually more quality midfielders in the early stages than other player types. In saying this though if their is standout tall left at 4 I would take him in a heartbeat!

It is our 2nd and 3rd choices that are the most important picks for us in thsi next draft.

Gold Coast already have signed Swallow, which will take up one of their 3 picks
They will probably take Darling or Day as a kpp
Question is, do they take another midfielder like Bennell with Pick 3, or the other kpp out of Day & Darling?

I'm hoping they take Bennell and leave one of the talls for us, I think Day would be perfect for us, perhaps as a CHB

Interesting. IYO why would they take Bennell over Gaff?

Mass accumulator of the ball and kicks goals from the midfield, a Steven Hill type.
I guess what may stop them though is if they know we won't take him with Pick 4, given they have Pick 5 and can take him directly afterwards.

That's also why I'm sure they will take a player like a Groenwegen even though he is a risk. With the amount of picks they have they have the opportunity to take a punt on players such as this given the massive upside regardless of the potential injury downside. By monopolising the draft like they will they be almost unstoppable in 5 years and be right in our path when/if we finally mature into a powerful side. A bit like Brissy was for the Woods given their salary cap concessions but worse. We will be cursing the AFL in the future I'm certain...
