Richmond’s top two choices in the 2004 AFL National Draft, Brett Deledio and Richard Tambling, will wear two of the most famous guernsey numbers in Tigerland history next season.

Deledio, who was the prized first pick overall in the draft, has been handed the No. 3 made famous by the likes of former Richmond captains and Tiger Team of the Century members Roger Dean and Dale Weightman, along with the inspirational Duncan Kellaway, who announced his retirement from AFL football late last season.

Tambling, taken at pick four in the draft, will don the No. 30, which was worn with such distinction throughout five Tiger premiership triumphs by Francis Bourke, and was also proudly displayed by another former Richmond skipper in Tony Free.

The Tigers’ third draft selection, Danny Meyer, moves into the No. 22 vacated by Tommy Roach, who has grabbed the No. 8 worn at Punt Road by his father, Michael.

Former Hawthorn defender, Mark Graham, will stick with the No. 34 that he wore during his playing days at Glenferrie, in his first season at Tigerland.

It's going to take a little while to get use to these numbers not being linked to duds  ;D. I still associate Fiora, Fleming, Bidders, Nichols and Bourke with them :P.
