Do what i do Ox and never turn on my radio again - instead, i go on a wondrous discovery of music thru Winmx and Kazaa lol
Find artists that i've never ever heard of thru www.allmusic.com - listen to the samples and download.
Refuse to listen to commercial radio - unless it's footy of course - too much crap talk and poo music!
I think i'm getting old lol

Same Moisie ( :lol)

I never listen to the radio unless it's for the footy. Makes it embarrassing in the car when I change CDs and the radio pops on, and it's on MMM...."it was for the footy...honest!"  :scream

Got more than enough music on my computer and in my CD collection to keep me occupied.
My parents bought me a Richmond jumper and enrolled me in a junior footy clinic in 1981...look at me now.

The Australian music scene (not to mention the rest of the world) has been terminal for quite some time.

Our championing of everyday schmucks like Shannon Null is symptomatic of the decline in any standards of excellence and a yearning for the common man to get his no good fugly head in the spotlight for 15 mins, even if art has to be compromised to do it.

Pretty much everything that comes out today sounds prosaic and homosexual, even the nihilistic stuff. I'm embarassed to listen to songs that come out nowadays and anything new that I do listen to has no lyrics, for fear of tackiness and emptiness.

lmfaooooo@at the only thing I can stand being the schizoid trash of Aphex Twin, Squarepusher and more down to earth schit like Crystal Method, Hybrid and Anthony Rother.

Geez John did you have a dictionary for breakfast!!! lol What a sad little egg I must be I quite like a lot of the music around and always have, some stuffs pretty sad, but I like some of most types of music, I also laugh a lot at the cage on MMM, sing my head off to JB, cry at chick flicks and decorate my house at Christmas time :santa . I also try not to worry too much about things that I cannot change, doesnt mean I dont care, just means I wont end up in a loony bin.
See us Tiger supporters are many and varied and proud of it ;D

LMAO @ how sh*t world music is generally. LMAOOO @ Australia's proud tradition of crap bands such as Sherbet, Gangajang etc.

LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO @ people thinking bands like Magic Dirt are good.

LMAO @ the number of really definitive influential albums in the last 10-15 years (Nevermind, Blood Sugar Sex Magik, ?????) compared to the 60's and 70's. Money, Image, PR and all the rest of that rubbish has f*cked things big time. Look at cover bands like Jet and the Darkness taking the world by storm LMAOOOOOOOOO at the sad c*nts who don't realise it was done 20 years ago.

LMAOOO @ me. How funny that you mentioned Sherbet, my girlfriends and I spent many a day daydreaming about Daryl lol. Looking back, their music wasnt that earth moving but we had fun.
The thing is, music isn't brain surgery, it's not meant to win a nobel prize, it's just supposed to make you happy or sad or relaxed or whatever.
LMAO @ people who take such things so seriously ;D

I share the same birthday date as Daryl Braithwaite.  Geez he was a spunk in those days.  I will also take this time to confess that I was mad about Eric from the Bay City Rollers :-[  And I will also admit to going to see Bon Jovi the first time they came to Australia - I was 7 rows from the front but up in the stalls.  You find, once you have kids, you tend to listen to some of the modern stuff - if anything, just to keep up with it.  I don't mind Shannon Noll but I tend to just download a particular song I like rather than buy the whole CD.

I too cry at chicks flicks (never used to??) and decorate my house at Christmas time. :santa

To be honest, i'd rather get you and your girlfriends round my place in your platforms and satin pants and put a bit of Sherbet on for old time's sake.

I have a girlfirend who follows Jimmy Barnes to every concert he's playing - whether in Melbourne or interstate - every single bloody weekend lol
When asking her to go out, you don't need to ring - you just check out where Jimmy's playing to know whether she's available or not hahaha!
Mad Richmond supporter, but has lately stopped going to RFC games if Jimmy's in town - her response when i call her a traitor:  "Jimmy never lets me down like the Tiges do" lol

I know how she feels moi :(
I went to see JB at festival hall last year i think, hadn't been to the old barn since my Sherbet daysl I took my daughter her friend and my niece, we all had a ball, they said it was the best concert theyd been to, and we,ve been lucky enough to get a lot of freebie tickets to rod laver concerts, JB killed them. Dont know anyone else in my circle of friends and family who like him tho, hubby and brothers hate him :(
