Who do you think is not getting a go from coburg willie?

Polak - BOG the last 2 weeks is the first name that comes to mind.

Gourdis has had a good year and deserves a chance to see if he can cut it at AFL level - to me he should have got the nod ahead of Thursfield

BrownE has improved immensely in the last month and deserves a chance as well

Polo - but I wont say that because I don't want be accused of being biased but he was excellent last week and very good the week before

Rance was sensational against the Bombers 2 weeks ago and solid last week

Need me to go on  :thumbsup

What's wrong with making these guys string together 3, 4, 5 good games at Coburg? It's been far to easy to get games in the past. It might make them realise what is needed to keep there spot when they finally come back. It's the only way to build a great side, make it hard for these kids to get in so they do everything in there powers to stay in. Well done Dimma.
P.S. no more Polak even if he gets BOG every week. It's time to move on. Harsh but we need to look forward.

axel will be fine.  seeing as the split round is coming up, there is no point in playing him this week. may as well rest him so it becomes 2 more weeks of rest.

Well said, just about anyone with a brain could see what he brings to the side when he played his last few games. Perhaps they are managing him back like he should have been managed in the first place. He will be back after the split round and hopefully he can build his game and game time up leading into the pre-season.

And rightt there you've hit the nail on the head big tone - exactly my point

The players I've listed have actually strung 3-5 good games together at Coburg and haven't been rewarded and that is disappointing.

In the case of Gourdis he has strung together good consistent performances all season for Coburg and now we are finally in a position to be elevate and play him and misses out to Thursfield who played an OK game last week

To be honest BrownE was playing better footy than Gus Graham at the time Gus got selected. Fortunately Gus has taken his poortunity and deserves alot of credit for that but at the time BrownE was the better of the two form wise and hasn't been rewarded. As I said I just find it disappointing

Good move for mine, at least we will see if the RFC listed players for Coburg stand up again this week or drop their heads and put in shockers because they thought they were due for a call up.

Well I am sure they would love to stand up again this week but they can't because it's a split rouind in the VFL as weel this week and Coburg aint playing

Well after all split rounds then. If this team beats the Lions who do we drop just to give the good RFC listed Coburg players a go?? No one, why would we, we have finally, albeit after one or two games put together something that looks like we are moving forward so why change it??

I agree with Big Tone here in the past players were tokenly dropped to the reserves to appease a media or supporter backlash yet now we scratch our head and say what does a bloke have to do.

In Gourdis case maybe Dimma is thinking of playing him towards the end of the season. I do also feel sorry for Polak but the team did win by 49 points so why change a winning formula.

It seems no matter what they do at the selection table some people just won't be happy.

Despite winning I would think you still drop those who aren't playing well, aren't following the team first mantra or anyone who maybe injured.

If you win and everyone plays well - yeah fine you don't make any changes.

But this week there was a forced change due to injury and the replacement IMHO did not do enough last week playing at Coburg to warrant a recall. There are others who have played well for a number of weeks (READ GOURDIS) who should have been given a go and as I said I find that very disappointing.

Looking at the other 2 emergencies - Post went back to his bad habits last week of not working hard enough defensively (read he wont chase and apply the apporpriate pressure when he doesn't have the ball). Webberley was OK but not one of the best so I question why these two are listed as emergencies

Well obviously the selectors see and know more than all of us WP just like you do regarding Connors. Perhaps they look at team structure and the best fit for the team we are playing. Perhaps players like Post, Thursty etc... are given certain tasks that they need to work on when back at Coburg. Perhaps the players are selected based on that.

Selections based on injury are a given.

I am starting to worry that good form at Coburg is not being rewarded

Looking at the emergencies - I'd argue (strongly) that only Gourdis deserve it

Ditto with the "IN". Will was solid but not great
You make good points WP but i actually like the team being stable even though some players may not exactly be killing them! I think it rewards solid performances of the last 5 or 6 weeks by the team and takes the focus away from individuals.

Good point

And perhaps ALL players are given roles and task to work on at Coburg or when they are selected to play for Richmond. And when they work on those things and play consistent footy they are selected on merit or maitain their spots on merit even if we as supporters at the time think they have played crap  ;)

polak is not the future, griff and astbury will get a big blooding.

polak will only get his opportunity when they need a rest.

browne gourdis and rance will get an opportunity soon.

This shows to me some thing. Depth. When we can discuss about options about ins and outs all valid.

To me it seems we have not have depth for a long time now. In the past it seems we have had about 25 players

to select from whereas now the number seems to be genuinely higher and McMahon hasn't had a look in.

Brisbane Lions
B: James Hawksley, Daniel Merrett, Andrew Raines
HB: Travis Johnstone, Joel Patfull, Troy Selwood
C: Luke Power, Daniel Rich, Tom Rockliff
HF: Tom Collier, Brent Staker, Justin Sherman
F: Todd Banfield, Brendan Fevola, Jared Brennan
Foll: Mitchell Clark, Michael Rischitelli, Simon Black
I/C: Sam Sheldon, Jack Redden, Amon Buchanan, Matthew Leuenberger
Emg: Aaron Cornelius, Pearce Hanley, Jesse O'Brien

No change

Richmond
B: Chris Newman, Luke McGuane, Will Thursfield
HB: Shane Tuck, Brett Deledio, Daniel Connors
C: Ben Cousins, Daniel Jackson, Shane Edwards
HF: Matt White, Jack Riewoldt, Ben Nason
F: Richard Tambling, Ben Griffiths, David Astbury
Foll: Angus Graham, Trent Cotchin, Dustin Martin
I/C: Mitch Farmer, Tyrone Vickery, Jake King, Andrew Collins
Emg: Jeromey Webberley, Jayden Post, David Gourdis

In: Will Thursfield
Out: Kelvin Moore (leg)

I think it is good we have made only the one change, which was the obvious one.

Give them some matches playing together and see if last week was just a one off match.

I too, am worried about Axel Foley!

Nahas, Morton, Polo, Post it seems need more work on certain areas.

I actually did not realise Post has been playing in Coburg firsts?

He has been to quiet.

Fevola did kick 9 against us last year, most of them on Thursfield, so Moore is a big loss!

I said last week that Riewoldt and Griffiths need to kick 10 between them to beat West Coast.

We need 12 goals between them to beat Brisbane!

We can afford to win on saturday night!

 :)
