LRT is one of those real annoying players who can look like sh1te and when they play us he looks unstoppable.

He will finish his career as the worst player to play 200 games and 2 GFs. One of the most clumsy players I have seen.

Agreed, astoundingly bad on Saturday.
Kept thinking back to the GF they won where I thought he was their best player.
As you say, incredibly clumsy now.
IIRC SOS was his individual coach at the time, before going to St Kilda.
Maybe SOS is a much better defensive coach than I thought, particularly when you think of Fisher, Gilbert and even Gwilt on the weekend. How Blake is a key back is beyond my understanding.

I think it highlights perfectly that you can carry a player with deficiencies in their game as long as you put them in a game structure that relies on those deficiencies as litle as possible and surround them with quality players who can assis in making that role work.

For example, a player with poor kicking skills must have players working hard up field into space so the kick doesn't need to be pin point accurate. Alternatively ensure that there is always someone with class disposal near the player when he has the ball for an easy offload.

Tigers eye end to Swan streak

Richmond will be out to break an eight-game losing streak against Sydney, when they take on the Swans in Sunday’s Round 14 clash at the MCG.

The last time the Tigers defeated Sydney was Round 14 of the 2005 season, when they hung on to win a thriller by one-point, after leading by 33 points at three-quarter time, in front of 34,572 fans at the MCG.

Matthew Richardson was Richmond’s leading goalkicker that day with four, while Andrew Krakouer booted three, and the three Brownlow votes went to Tiger captain, Kane Johnson (15 kicks, 7 handballs, 7 marks).

It’s interesting to note that from the Richmond team which played in that match, only five players remain on the Club’s senior list in 2010 - current captain Chris Newman (who was playing his 68th game), Shane Tuck (in his 17th game), Brett Deledio (14th game), Richard Tambling (5th game) and Will Thursfield, who was making his senior league debut.  Thursfield was impressive in an extremely tough first-up assignment on Sydney Swans star forward Michael O’Loughlin.

Just 12 weeks later, the Swans won their first premiership in 72 years, making the Tigers’ performance that early July Saturday all the more meritorious.

Since then, the two teams have played eight times for eight Sydney wins.  The Swans’ average winning margin in those eight games has been 57 points.

In the Round 3 encounter this season, Sydney beat Richmond by 55 points, after leading 10 goals to one at half-time.  So, Sunday’s game will be an interesting gauge of how the young Tiger team has progressed since then.

I urge all Tiger fans to get along to the game on Sunday, and make the Swans feel about as welcome as a turd in a jacuzzi >:(

The MCC is expecting a crowd of 35k.

Not too bad for a game involving an interstate side on a Sunday when you see they only expecting 40k to turn up for the Hawks vs Dogs on Friday night. So much for the Hawks and their 50k members  ::).

While Sydney enjoys a long winning streak against Richmond, he's wary of the developing Tiger cubs.

"I think over the course of the next 18 months you are going to see Richmond play some really good footy on a consistent basis," Paul Roos said.

Tigers fresh and ready for Swans

Richmond midfielder Trent Cotchin believes the split round will aid the players in their bid for a third straight win this weekend.

The Tigers take on Sydney at the MCG on Sunday - a team they have not defeated since Round 14, 2005.

But Cotchin and his young team-mates are aiming to reverse the Club’s Round 3 loss to the Swans earlier this season.

“We’ve done a lot of improving since then.  We’ve worked hard on our structures, and how to beat them, and I think it’s a really good opportunity,” Cotchin said.

“The whole view of the year has been to develop, and to continue to develop the game plan, and I think we’re doing that at the moment.

“We’re trying to keep a level head, and with a young group I think that’s important.  We’re just excited about the back end of the season.”

Cotchin said the players used the weekend off to relax away from the Club and prepare themselves for the rest of the season.

“A few of the guys got away and re-charged the batteries.  I think it’s always good, especially with a young group,” he said.

“The bodies start to get a bit bruised and battered, and it gives us an opportunity to refresh and get ready for the rest of the year.

“Having a little break, you get excited because you see the games being played on the weekend and you just want to get out there again.”

Richmond will conduct its final training session this Saturday April 3 at 11am at Punt Road Oval.

WHO WILL WIN AND WHY?
If the Tigers don't get a big haul from Riewoldt, they will struggle in attack, and he faces an in-form Lewis Roberts-Thomson  ???.

The midfield battle could be even but in Goodes, Ben McGlynn and Daniel Bradshaw, the Swans look more potent up forward. It will be close but the Swans have more to lose than Richmond. It's hard to see them dropping this one.

PREDICTION:
Sydney Swans by 15 points.

He is one player who definitely doesn't know how to go body on body without giving away frees either.

This game is really so unpredictable and make no mistake, the Swans are spooked, they don't know what to expect either. I hope we can get away to a great start.
