Daniel Jackson on SEN @ 1.45pm
« on: July 07, 2010, 02:10:52 PM »
Jacko was just on SEN before 2pm with Hartford...

* It's all slowly coming together. Winning is a big perk but we know we've got a long way to go. We all just love playing our footy.

* Dimma has brought in really good people. We all get on well - they are honest with us and we can speak up to them.

* Cuz was bubbly as ever at training today and had a run around. He is fine, in good spirits and very healthy.

* Freo game  - they're missing players due to injury (all the best to Barlow) and need to  travel over. We have a 6 day break. We've had a good track record against interstate sides this year. A great opportunity.

* Putting together the pieces. Dimma came in in November and said he had a plan but it's going to take time. We haven't diverged from that.

* A supporter in a suit with headphones stopped him in the street all excited and said we're going to win the premiership soon then put the headphones back on and walked on. Supporters are now starting to see the improvement but we've been seeing it all along since November.

* It was a media circus earlier on in the season when we were losing with media everywhere.

* Jack txted Jacko before the show not to stuff up because he's listening lol. Jack, Collo, Martin and even Griffiths is contributing. Everyone is doing their bit.

* Best thing about Martin is it's all about bettering himself and he asked questions. In fact all this year's kids have adpated well to the AFL system where normally it takes kids time. Nason is a running machine. He'd be even faster if he cut that hair (laughs).

* Sydney game - in the past we would have dropped away in that 3rd quarter 33 points down. We never gave up. Martin kicked that goal, Jack took that mark and goal and we just kept grinding away. There was an intensity in the eyes of the guys. Might be due to so many young guys. We came close in the Hawthorn game but couldn't just get across the line. We're more experienced now and got across the line against Sydney.

* Newy had the toughest job in the world. Not easy being captain of a big passionately followed club when they are losing. But this year he's playing really well. He does all the hard and little things and we really appreciate and respect him as captain.

* Foley to the GC? No way. He loves the club, loves the Tigers. He just has a slight achilles problem at the moment but he isn't going anywhere.

* Played Soccer as a kid because his mum didn't want him to get hurt. Took up footy late at 14 years old.

* Caffeine tablets are discouraged but if the guys want one then they have to get one of the doctor. Jacko said he's okay and doesn't need anything.

* Dimma came in day one and said you boys can play attacking footy but your defence is poor. Big emphasis on tackling. Also we are now pressing up instead of sagging off. Allows up to tackle more as well.

* Jacko is pro-video technology as far as judging disputable goals.

* Umpiring over the weekend? Coaches told them after watching the Friday and Saturday games to not to give away 50m as the umps were being red hot on it. There was no directive from the AFL about it.

* When the new teams come in he'd like to a longer season (24 rounds) and drop the NAB Cup. He will enjoy the byes. The extra week off makes all the difference.
