Hardwick on 3aw @ 6.30pm
« on: July 08, 2010, 06:44:41 PM »
Hardwick was just on 3aw with Healy, Russell and Lethal....

* Russell asked Hardwick about the tribe starting to rise. Dimma said he came from a big club like Essendon but it's unbelievable how passionate and loyalty Richmond fans are. Patient as well. Good for them that the guys are playing well at the minute

* Lethal asked about the pros and cons about coaching from the bench?
Pros are immediate feedback to the player. You can show a photo straight away to explain things instead of having to wait to quarter time. Players also joke that I like getting extra tv time (laughs). Agreed that the increase in interchange rotations has made coaching from the bench possible. Rotations are so frequent nowdays it's hard to get a message out there so easier to give the message directly down on the bench.

* Tuck - sent back to the VFL to learn and work on his defensive efforts. Did everything we asked and forced his way back in. Been very good since.

* Deledio - Healy said Lids has immensely improved this year yet is still is flying under the radar as far as praise and not yet had people jumping on the bandwagon. Hardwick said he wasn't quite sure initially what impact Lids would have on games. Playing half-back suits him. Can play small or tall. Can deliver outside defensive 50 as well as inside forward 50 which impacts greatly for the team.

* Foley - nagging injury. Want him 100% rather than putting him out underdone. So he'll have a minor operation which will have him back in around 3-4 weeks. Axel could come back later in the season if pushed but we've decided to focus on 2011.

* Cuz - girlfriend rang the club about having trouble waking Ben up and then he heard Cuz was in intensive care. Pretty scarey for a while. Cuz being the competitor he is really wanted to play but we though his preparation wasn't ideal so we decided to give him a rest.

* Healy said as the club improves which we all hope it does, Cuz may have to deal with next year becoming a semi-Coburg player spending periods in the VFL. Hardwick agreed that's a possiblity. Any changes limiting rotations could also have an impact.
