I had a look at our list and selected a side one a few factors:

You get a game if you're a recent draftee and have potential, or in out best 10-15 players. The rest I've left out.

I've left Cousins out for hypothetical reasons.

B: Newman Gourdis Thursfield
HB: Deledio Astbury Connors
C: Webberly Foley Edwards
HF: Morton Griffiths White
F: Vickery Riewoldt Collins

R: Browne Martin Cotchin

Int: Graham Nason ....

Players to miss out that are still developing:
Post
Rance
Grimes
Taylor
Farmer
Dea
O'Rielly

Players to miss out that are older and should play next year:
King
Cousins

Players left from 2010 list
McMahon
Simmonds
Thompson
Hislop
Polak
Polo
Nahas
Tuck
Moore
Tambling
Jackson
McGuane

Players left on that list I think we need to keep 1 of Jackson or Tuck on the basis that they can help Cotchin Martin and Foley with the bigger bodies. I don't think we can keep 2.

I'd love the club to make a bold call and move on all those players, it's not easy, some are stiff, Bling, Jackson and McGuane have all had very good games and polled Brownlow votes but it would be the right call to exchange them for players we need to balance the list.

I honestly don't know where we are going to find replacements for 10+ players in a so called shallow compromised draft.

We blew our chance to do it properly years ago and are now left with the consequences. We may as well see what happens with the current group less a few to painful to watch and then rebuild when the drafts are uncompromised.

Got to go, no if, ands or buts....

RETIRED
Simmo

ALL DELIST
Hislop, Tom
McMahon, Jordan
Roberts, Relton
Thomson, Adam
Polak, Graham

TRADE FOR WHATEVER WE CAN GET
Tambling, Richard- still worth something and is a dime a dozen player
Moore, Kelvin- to re-active for mine, gets lead to the ball to often and in todays footy you must be pro-active even as a backman. Also kicks sideways or backwards to much, because he is scared to make a mistake. We need players that take risks, thats why Conners, Polo and even Edwards to a degree should be kept, all make PLENTY of mistakes but take the game on, and thats what makes good footy sides. E.G. Geelong

Now that's 8 and in a shallow draft that should be about it.

Some others are very lucky but as somebody else said you start from the bottom and work up. And it is not a one season job.
Players like Polo, Nahas, Farmer, Jackson, Tuck and even King (although has been super the later part of the year and now is more than just a dirty little tagger/back pocket) all may not be there for our next finals series but are definatly not the worst....

Some young guys and rookies are lucky too but have age on there side and should be given a LITTLE more time to improve.

I just hope with our darft picks and even when we trade which we will, we don't pick up anymore skinny little boys, we need strong bodies that can compete. Adelaide to me seem to do it the best, running, strong six footers with good skills ready to step up and play a part for the footy club. E.g. Sloan, Danerfield, Mackay, Schmidt, Walker, Otten

Fingers crossed!!!!!

Don't think we will cut as deeply as some imagine. Here's my take -

Delisted/Retired
Simmonds
McMahon
Polo
Nahas
Thompson
Hislop
Polak (elevated rookie)

Roberts (rookie)
Gilligan (rookie)

Potentially Trade
Rance
Tambling
McGuane
Moore
Thursfield
Plus any of the delistings

Out of the trades you would not delist all of Moore, McGuane and Thursfield but, more likely, one of the three if possible. Rance and Tambling would have currency considering they both still have potential to improve but we have many players like them.

Thompson and Hislop may see another year given their injuries and short time at the club but I would like them gone. Tuck and King have gone from definite delistings to definite stayers  :clapping

I think there will be at least 6 delistings off the main list and 2/3 rookies moved on.

thats very true Chuck and reading between the lines i think the club is thinking this as well.

The only players its safe to say are gone is.

Simmo
Mclovin
Polak
Gilligan
Cuz??

Roberts
Maybe Thomson

As much as it disappoints me i really believe we are stuck with Hislop, Mcguane and Tambling. Everyone should get used to those 3 playing for the RFC post next season. Adding to that King and Nahas recently being signed up :banghead :banghead

cant all happen in one go but players that imo have to go.

simmonds, mcmahon both basically already gone.
cousins at the end of next yr.
graham, hislop, jackson, king, mcguane, nahas,  polo, thomson tuck white tambling.

and rookies
polak, roberts, gilligan

will be able to make a decision one way or the other on a few younger players like rance, post gourdis farmer nason webberley after another yr.

and there are others still who im not sure about for one reason or another.

im hoping hardwick has not been hoodwinked by these underperformers like others before him. hes done the easy bit now to earn his pay and make some slightly tougher calls.

im hoping for 5 or 6 nd picks a psd pick and at least 4 rookie selections.

spot on Claw. 4 delistings is not acceptable in my book and i hope to god its more closer to 10 because our list can only get you so far and lets face it Nahas, polo, Hislop, Mcguane aint going to win you many games now are they.

Dimma forget about what lies ahead dump these players who are not up to it.
