ROSS Lyon is happy for Coleman Medal leader Jack Riewoldt to repeat his round-11 efforts against St Kilda - just as long as his own side continues to improve a fortnight out from September.

The Saints meet Richmond at Etihad Stadium on Saturday, eager to maintain their momentum ahead of a qualifying final.

Earlier this season Lyon’s men overcame Richmond by 38 points with Riewoldt booting six of the Tigers’ eight goals.

Asked if he had any different tactics to combat the cousin of his own skipper Nick, Lyon didn’t seem fussed by the prospect of the emerging Tigers star again hitting the scoreboard.

“I’m happy for Jack to kick six and the Tigers to kick nine,” the coach said on Tuesday.

The better sides don't change their game plans too much, they back it to beat lower sides. I can't see the Saints playing 4 guys on Jack. It might be a good chance for him to kick 4 or 5.

QUESTION MARKS
Which Riewoldt will have more effect? This is the first time the two cousins have played on the same field since Jack became a bona fide star, but Nick’s seven-goal haul last week reminded everyone just which of the two has long been considered one of the best in the competition.

Who will win the ruck? With Michael Gardiner a chance to miss at least one more week with hamstring tightness, the Saints have inexperienced duo Ben McEvoy and Rhys Stanley sharing the duties. Angus Graham has done well for Richmond but is starting to show the effects of shouldering the ruck load all season while Andrew Browne is yet to prove his worth. The Saints should come out on top.

WHO WILL WIN AND WHY
No one in their right mind would tip the Tigers to win this one. Maybe a mid-season upset would be on the cards but St Kilda wouldn’t let one slip at this stage of the campaign.

PREDICTION
St Kilda by 41 points.

It was 40 odd pts last time... and that was when we were in the middle of our purple patch.

Lets hope the return of Cotchin and the retirement of Cuz can inspire a bit of passion.

Players from the St Kilda and Richmond Football Clubs will once again compete for the annual Ian Stewart Medal, when the two teams meet at Etihad Stadium for traditional Saturday afternoon football in Round 21 this weekend.

The Ian Stewart Medal was established in 2004 as the brainchild of music guru and Saints’ fanatic, Ian ‘Molly’ Meldrum. It has been developed in order to recognise the only player in league football history to win Brownlow Medals and Premierships at two separate Clubs.

Ian Stewart played 127 games with St Kilda from 1963-70. He also won back-to-back Brownlow Medals with the Saints in 1965-66 and was a member of the Club’s 1966 premiership team.

In 1971, Stewart joined Richmond in a sensational swap for dual Tiger premiership player Bill Barrot. Stewart went on to play 78 games at Richmond from 1971-75.

He won the Brownlow Medal in his debut season with the Tigers, as well as the Club’s Best and Fairest that year. Two years later, Stewart was a key member of the Richmond side that defeated Carlton by 30 points in the 1973 Grand Final.

After Saturday’s game, the player judged best on ground by Channel 10’s commentary team will be selected as the winner of the Ian Stewart Medal. The medal will be presented to the player in the Club change rooms after the match by Channel 10 commentator, Andrew Maher.
