RETIRING Richmond midfielder Ben Cousins will be fit to play his second last game of AFL football this week.

There had been some concerns that Cousins might not recover from the corked thigh he suffered in last week's loss to Carlton.

Richmond assistant coach Danny Daly said the veteran was a certainty to take his place against St Kilda on Saturday.

"For a guy who is 32 years of age, they do get niggles every week after playing 100 minutes of footy in the intensity we play at," Daly said on Thursday morning.

"He copped that corkie last week which a couple of TV stations thought was a broken leg. He's sore, like everyone else around this time of year but he’ll be 100 per cent by the time he runs out."

Daly said Cousins would leave nothing in his tank in his last two weeks, and had requested to start on the field rather than his usual role off the bench to get maximum game time.

"In that way I think you'll see the best of Benny in the next couple of weeks. His form over the last six weeks has been terrific so hopefully he can carry that out in the last two games," Daly said.
