The Eagles had been keen to play Richmond at home in Round 1 to mark the 25th anniversary of their first game, ....

Wouldn't want the same freakin' result.  Up early and travelling well we were, until the sense of occasion seemed to lift the home side.

According to the membership package we'll still have one home game at Etihad  ::). So all the AFL has done is move 2 of the 3 Etihad homes games to Darwin and Cairns.

We've also got 16 games in Victoria. So two interstate home games in Darwin and Cairns plus 4 away interstate.

Darwin vs Port
Cairns vs Gold Coast
Gabba vs Brisbane ...... we know already

We won't be playing Port or GC at their home based on what the AFL has said so I'm guessing the remaining 3 interstate games will be in Sydney, Adelaide vs Crows and once to Perth. Not too bad if that's the case.

Pathetic - we've been conned and sitched up by the AFL. We did the deal with devil and now we (the members) pay the price  :banghead

As you say WP it's no surprise. Everytime we've tried to compromise with the AFL by doing something for them, the AFL has knocked us back returning the favour by not even giving us one more home game at our home ground above the 'now usual' 8 ::). Compare that to Melbourne who despite 3 years on the bottom of the ladder had 10 home games at the 'G this year aside from their one home game in Darwin. It's a joke how we are treated as a Club. Andy D's tantrum last year over Caro's article was proof of that :banghead. Mind you the silent acceptance of our Prez and Board to this crap is astonishing. As a club that usually can't keep it's gob shut publicly when it should, the one time we should speak up there's not even a whimper :-\. We'll probably be playing St Kilda at "home" again at Etihad as well based on past history under Andy D :chuck.

I hope we do not play Geelong at Skilled Stadium ... ever again! That is a joke.

Is the two interstate home matches classified in the six interstate matches? If so, that would leave us with 16 matches, but would we still have 11 "Home" matches or 9 at the MCG and Etihad?

 ???

Yep we have 16 games in Victoria next year and six interstate matches (including the 2 "home" ones). Our 11 home games will be 8 at the MCG plus one each at Etihad, TIO (Darwin) and Cairns.

According to BF, we'll have 3 Friday nighters plus the season opener on Thursday night. However, we'll still have a few Sunday games.

You lose one Richmond game in Melbourne (@ Etihad for that matter) and the club gains a few hundred thousand $$$.

But boo friggedy hoo to you.  ::)

We've actually lost 2 games in Melbourne in 2011. We have 9 home games not 11.

The Club can sugar coat it any way they like by saying they are going to give us replacement games. But those replacement games will not give me the same benefits I get in a normal home game situation

This is the issue I have:

I spend a considerable amount of my memberships (in excess of $4k) and forgive me that I actually want value for my hard earned $$. Replacement games don't deliver that

I just think before signing these deals with the AFL clubs need to make sure they get some guarantees back in return. We've gone from being told we are likely to have all our Melb home games at the MCG to now still having to venture to Etihad the one venue our Members don't want to go to. Hows that fair for members?

Trust me I understand the reasons why they've sold home games. I don't agree with it but I understand it.

RICHMOND
Despite copping thrashings on the opening night of the past two seasons, Richmond will again take on Carlton to start 2011. Damien Hardwick's men face some daunting challenges in the following couple of weeks as well. The Tigers meet St Kilda in round two, Hawthorn in round three and Collingwood in round four.

Richmond will certainly clock up plenty of frequent flyer points in 2011. The Tigers are playing a home game in Darwin against Port Adelaide and another one in Cairns against Gold Coast. They've also got away matches in Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane and Sydney.
