Voss' Brisbane in freefall
« on: September 07, 2010, 09:43:30 PM »
Michael Voss will go down as one of the greatest footballers of all time but as coach he has well and truly stuffed the Lions for the next 5-10 years.

- The club is under severe salary cap pressure so they have no room to move
- They are stuck with contracted dud recycled senior players they traded for only 12 months ago
- They're asking champion veterans like Black and Power to take pay cuts which won't go down well
- Key players in the mid-age bracket are walking out: Rischitelli and Brennan.

All this means they have very few quality kids coming through in numbers and their mid-age bracket is also now thin on talent. Brisbane will need to rebuild from scratch given they are virtually in the same position we were in 2004. As we know that takes years if not almost a whole decade to turnaround.

Now this doesn't affect us directly and as Tiger supporters we could easily say who cares it's not us. However it's not good for the AFL to have a dud side for a long period in a traditional non-Aussie rules state like Queensland especially if the new Gold Coast side also struggles initially.

afl wonte like it but not much they can do about it. brisbane has made there own mess.
On the plus side of things there hoping and high chance of it happening seeing how all the drafts they get GC will be in finals in the next couple of seasons and will start to bring more people to the AFL

Yep the AFL will definitely be pushing for GC to become successful onfield a.s.a.p. Same goes for GWS.
