Sounds like you're right Howler.

Former premiership teammates of Hird insisted on Saturday that a three-man ticket had succeeded. Those three men are believed to be Hird, Williams and Dean Wallis, who has quit as an assistant coach at Fremantle and returned to Melbourne.

One former Essendon player insisted some board members wanted Williams to coach for two years with Hird as an assistant.

Instead, Hird will take the reins from day one with the former Port Adelaide premiership coach as his assistant.

''It's a done deal,'' the former Essendon player said at a post-grand final function on Saturday night.

A massive risk going for a coach with no experience. As Voss is finding out being a great player doesn't mean you can coach. This sounds like the Bombers are more interested in the boost to memberships Hird becoming coach will bring rather than going for the best credentialled coach.

Massive risk by the Bombers.

I guess they need to get the one million or so dollars back from the Matty Knights payout.
The Essendon members will speak with their wallets and repay that million bucks for now.

Back to Stage 5 the Bombers go Optimism.

If hird fails they have no golden child to fall back on

Hahahaha great post.

I think Hird will have what it takes to coach. Unfortunately he's inherited the worst list in the AFL that will get no concessions. He'll go through hell.

Hope he fails cause I hate Essendon. Always like Jimmy Hird though.

Yep Hird said he's put his name in and is going through the process. A totally different answer to his "I've answered that question 10 times and not going to say it again" response last week to Mike which nobody believed :wallywink.
