How much football does everyone watch?

He also missed 3 game playing 19. He is always going to be top 3 at Carltons every win.

No other player in the league influences his teams performance more than Chris Judd. Collingwood would be fine without Swan same with Geelong without Ablett.

Carlton without Judd are a bottom 6 side.

Judd nearly single handedly won the final against Sydney in the 2nd and 3rd qtr.

This happens every year, Kerr taking votes off Couins, Voss taking votes off Lappin, Grant and West taking votes off each other.

Watched every game this year

Deserved to win it.
I thought that Pies best player this year was pendlebury and not Swan, forget the rubbish the papers write

l just watched the biggest crock of poo in Brownlow History
Dane Swan 3 votes in the last 5 rounds is outragoues.
Judd is no way the best player in the league & shows how the Brownlow can be rigged by umpires having favorites
another k down the drain on Brownlow again  :o

Judd is a deserving winner but the Brownlow isn't actually a best player in the league award though. KB, Royce, Carey, Ablett snr, etc never won one. It's just a 3-2-1 count for each game which favours those that star in the most games in one season rather than most consistent over a career. If they wanted to find the best and most consistent then all 44 players in each game would be given a vote out of 10 say as happens in B&Fs. Tonight simply shows that Carlton is really a one-man band with Judd getting seven 3-votes out of the Blues' 11 wins this year. Whereas Pendlebury and Swan took votes off each other that cost one of the them the medal. Sheesh Judd got 30 votes on his own whereas we as a whole team got just 37 votes  :P.

Yeah well said MT.

Alot has to eb said about Judd's leadership and how he carries himself on the ground. Brent Harvey is to North is what Judd is to Carlton but gets a qtr of as many votes. Harvey plays for free kicks and show boats after goals, as good as he is the umpires don't look to respect him. Judd rarely complains, scrags and more often than not plays within the rules. So he'll always be looked favourably by the umpires as he on field demeanor is as good as anyone.

Swan for example has the personality of a tree and shows no leadership on field and the only thing that stands out is his tatoos. Pendlebury is a more influential player than Swan.

There have been loads worst winners, Woewodin, Cooney, Goodes etc.

He might be their best player Pope but they only won 11 games and 1 of those was without Judd.  To score 30 votes in a team that made the finals and only won 10 of the games he played in is just not reality.  And its a moot point anyway because he should not have been eligible.

So a player that takes a deliberate swing at another and breaks his eye socket, or the same player who pokes an opponent in the eye and then publicly claims a 'martial arts move', or the same player that started the season late this year because he was found guilty of the low act of eye-gouging is worthy of the respect of the umpires but a player who celebrates a goal isn't?  He was eligible for the medal last year because his suspension came in the finals and yet it had no carry over impact this year and you put him up as the one most worthy of respect?  He is a morally bankrupt liar that was not the best player in our great game this year, end of story.

Agree Smoke shouldn't have been eligible thats another argument.

You can poll votes in losing sides, it doesn't matter how many you win? Gary Ablett Snr won a Norm Smith in a losing side, so did Nathan Buckley. Jack Riewoldt polled in the loss to St.Kilda. Morton polled against Port and we lost?

Jack Riewoldt can win a Coleman from the 15th side that won 6 games, Judd can win the Brownlow from a team that won 11.

It's a traditional award that chosen by the officials that umpire the game. The MVP players award has holes as well being voted by the players, most who don't actually watch opposition games and vote on media perception. The most transparent award is the coaches votes awards on Channel 9.

You wont get an argument out of me that he shouldn't have been suspended for the eye gouge and the non suspension for the elbow was wrong. I wont even defend him that his treatment from McPhee was borderline assault and the elbow was out of frustration. He should have been suspended

I think you're drawing a low bow here smoke, Judd is fairer than most in the competition, he's had 2-3 misdemeanors of suspendable offences in his whole career.

To answer the question I think its easier to respect a guy like Judd who carries himself the way he does quietly getting the job done on the footy field over Brent Harvey who plays for free kicks and celebrates a goal like Ronaldo. With all due respect to Brent Harvey but its an example.

Agree re gun.

Totally disagree re full of himself.  Was nothing but humble, very impressive victory speech.  Put a lot of other players in their place re their status in society.

At least you still got 24 votes Dane. Geoff Raines got none  :P when he was favourite in 1980.
