Bottom few Eddy, Peake, McQualter, Dempster, Kosi, Milne, just to name a few not upto it under the big game spotlight. Can be carried during the year but when the intensity lifts in the GF just too many passengers.

Saints now remind me of Geelong circa 89-95 under Blight and Ayres, would get to GF's but would simply be overwhelmed on GF day. It seems getting close last year and even closer this year has just been too overwhelming for the footy club and their fans. History suggests that they have run their race and their premiership window may be closing right now as we speak for next year and beyond. Maybe it is time to rebuild and start again very soon for the Saints. One flag in 114 years suggests so.

I hope they come knocking on our door for a couple of our players - at the very least they will push up the price.

McEvoy would be the only one you'd want being a young ruckman who'll get better with time. Underneath their older senior players there's hardly any potential elite talent coming through. They've been relying on Riewoldt, Goddard, Dal Santo, Montagna, Milne, Gram, Fisher, etc.. since 2004. It's going to a hard fall for the Saints in a couple of years.

Thought the exact same thing myself Ramps - wonder how much Tambling is worth to them now given how their lack of pace was exposed today.

Problem is in their second string ball users. McQualter, Jones, Gram, Baker etc They carry too many warhorses who don't have the silky disposal and don't have the pace to run ahead of the ball and find space and make things happen.

Shame with Geelong and Saints on the way down this could be a pie dynasty.... who is there to take them on? Hawthorn have the x-factor, Freo you expect to drop off after a good year... Melbourne several years at least from being a contender....  :o

Would be great wayne but I can't see the Saints trading a tall for a small especially their only decent young ruckman. We would have to throw something else in plus have McEvoy tell the Saints he wants to be traded to Richmond for it to have even a slight chance of happening.

That's the beauty of grand finals Jake.  Every year the winner is seen in a light of 'dynasty-capable' yet rarely does it happen.  All the talk in 2008 was of a Hawks dynasty, all the talk in 2004 was of a Port dynasty, go back all the way to 1980 and all the talk was of a Tiger dynasty (and trust me, there was a shedload of public talk about it) yet none of them even came close to coming true.  The premiership winning team always appears invincible to the rest but just as planets align to allow premierships, so they 'unalign' to bring the mortals back to earth.  Collingwood are a good side, well coached with a solid game plan.  Now that the game plan has been proved A1 it becomes the focus of the other teams to beat it and the challenge of maintaining that competitive advantage becomes soooo much harder.  It is now 16 vs 1 as far as dismantling the premiership attributes goes and for mine Collingwood have too many potential flaws or weak spots to consider them part of a dynasty.  Well done to them on today and this season but watch this space.

And what are the Colonwood flaws;

- their two KPF are crap shot for goals
- their game plan is indirect footy playing the boundary line
- Leon Davis :)

Any others?

They have history. Remember they sacked Matthews soon after the '90 win so Shaw could take over.
