Craig Cameron was on SEN with KB a short while ago.....

* Disappointed we weren't able to get a deal done with Houli. We'll sit down and decide to get him either via the National draft or PSD. It'll depend on who will be available in the PSD.

* Role in trade week was to improve the picks and bolster the midfield stock with players with a good engine and be able to play in other positions given the new substitute rule. We wanted to bring in guys (Grigg and Houli) who were in the similar age bracket to the guys we already have.

* Carlton asked for Collins. Some players stated that if they were to be offered to be traded the Tigers should pursue it.

* Foley - trade talk was rubbish.

* KB asked if we would use pick 6 on Cloke if Travis goes into the National draft. Cameron said he'll have to ask Francis Jackson but we're more likely to go for youth.

* Brad Miller - he's still considering what he wants to do but eventually wants to become a coach. Jack carried too much of the load up forward this year as our other talls are still very young. Insurance if Jack and Griffiths go down.

* Tambling - wanted a fresh start. Put on too much pressure on himself and wasn't enjoying his footy.

* Next year to improve we need our guys drafted from last year to take the next step. Expectations for next year is to improve and then target finals in 2012.

I realise it fits in with the club's 3-0-75 plan to play finals in 2012 but that's an over-optimistic prediction for mine given where we are at with such a young list. I wish the club wouldn't even mention the f-word until we actually make them.

Agree, would be nice if it happens but it is such a young list.

F word should be banned from RFC vocab to the media.

I'm happy for the club the set goals the way they have. It gives everybody something by which to gauge progress.
Personally I dont think it's that unreasonable to expect to be playing finals in 2012.

The core of our playing group is the 20-24 year olds. we've added one more bigger body in this group already, a good chance to add one more in houli and possibly a few more via the drafts.

Will probably see a few more added next year via trades/draft and by 2012, all going to plan should have a core group of 22-26 year olds with at least a couple of seasons under their belts.

Depending on how much the implemention of phase 2 sets them back initially and a good run with injury/suspension we are a chance to make up the numbers come september next year. Luck will play a part though.

Setting goals is the corner stone of almost everything in life, I understand some Tiger faitfuls apprehesion in this considering the past 30 years. But time to move on this is the new dawn, we must have quantative measures in place to see if we are going in the right direction. I am hoping to be at the least bluddy close in 2012 and 2013 expecting the F word.
We have the list/stucture in place to make these predictions plausible, so why not! Go for it Tiges and hold on people here we go  :gotigers

No probs with the Club setting goals but keep them internally. Stating them publicly when your second last, haven't made finals in almost a decade and have a very young and still raw list comes across as hollow. Statements like these have come back to bite us in the past such as Greg Miller stating publicly in 2005 that 2007 would be our year as far as finals  :P. It's way too early to start mentioning the f-word. While a number of our mids will be hitting their prime with 50-100+ games under their belt, our KPPs on our list apart from Jack are still raw and we are still judging them based on their potential rather than output let alone elite output. It's putting a lot of expectations on our future spine before they are likely to be ready.....

McGuane (70 games)
Jack       (68 games)
Thursty   (66 games)

Thursty (66) looks to be on the way out and McGuane even after 70 games is questionable.

Rance     (25 games)
Astbury   (17 games)
Post       (14 games)
Griffiths   (5 games)
Gourdis   (3 games)
Grimes    (1 game)
Westhoff (0 games)

the same with our rucks ...

Graham (33 games)
Vickery (23 games)
Browne (5 games)

The one positive is of course Jack two years ago looked a fair way off - 26 games after his first two seasons and kicked just 18 goals fom 18 games in 2008. A massive bonus if most of the above rise to such heights as quickly as Jack has.

If we are NOT aiming for the finals in 2012 I may be very tempted to jump off the Eureka Skydeck.

10 to 13 wins is not an unrealistic expectation for 2012....we won 6 games this year after being compared to Fitzroy.

Hawks won 13 games plus a final in Clarksons 3rd year.

Totally agree MT, we had no pressure on us before that comment, now the press and supporter base have something to hold him to. Pure idiocy. We have 1 Forward, Jack Reiwoldt. All the rest are really young kids. We kicked the least amount of goals than any team in the competition and we had the second most goals kicked on us this season. We came second last, we were damn lucky we didn't come last. We have a mile of development to go yet. We should improve next year hopefully we can finish around position 12-13. Remember we were beaten by 50+ on several occassions this year. Cameron the idiot doesn't need to talk about finals all he needs to do is to reaffirm that progress is being made and the confidence is high. Talk about setting up your supporter base for a loss. Craig Cameron you are the weakist link, NEXT.

so what happens when we dont make finals in 2012? bc we absolutely won't.

Going to be a lot of angry tiger fans bleating that they were promised finals, the media will have a feast with Dimma, Gale and the footy dpt, the club will panic and go into meltdown like they always do. This comment couldve waited till next season where we will have a real insght to where we are at.

Blight, Matthews and Malthouse have all said that you cannot exactly plan for success, ie finals in 3 years, flag in 5 etc, you build towards it and then take it with both hands when it comes bc is not an exact science and is directly influenced by a lot of mitigating circumstances that all need to go right.

garbage, I dont believe that for a minuet, plenty of sides have made great strides...look at freo's progress in 2010 after finishing third bottom in 2009...we must be aiming high rather than pre-empt every season with failure ::)
