Correct me if Im wrong but Craig Cameron said the club was aiming to make the finals in 2012 NOT guaranteeing finals.

Whats wrong with setting goals and a bit of optimism ?

It seems that there is a divide here that follows the divide the tanking debate creates.  Those that think you need to loose to be successful seem to be afraid to aim for success.

Going to be a lot of angry tiger fans bleating that they were promised finals, the media will have a feast with Dimma, Gale and the footy dpt, the club will panic and go into meltdown like they always do. This comment couldve waited till next season where we will have a real insght to where we are at.

Blight, Matthews and Malthouse have all said that you cannot exactly plan for success, ie finals in 3 years, flag in 5 etc, you build towards it and then take it with both hands when it comes bc is not an exact science and is directly influenced by a lot of mitigating circumstances that all need to go right.

mate we've played in 2 finals series since 82! and you're talking about grand finals and a birthrght to play finals? 

 After everything we've been through, all the bull.poo false dawns and rubbish propaganda from our club, i dont think its unreasonable to suggest waiting until the 2nd year of a rebuild that will include a turnover of 23-24 players to get a realistic look at where we are at. How many of last years draftees will make it? this years? what if its less than 50% which is quite possible, in that case there'll be no finals in 2012 or 2013 you can bank on that. Watch the ferals go at it then.

Supposedly according to Terry Wallace at the 07 season launch we should be primed for a premiership next year.


Keep the goals realistic. I just will go back to what Ben Cousins said after the Brisbane game. The first baby steps are great which is were we are at now.

Finals 2012 difficult but not impossible and if things happen to fast track themselves great and if they don't and they happen in a more realistic time frame great also.

Lets just leave it at that and lets hope the club don't flap their lips at any stage over the next few years if we win 4 or so games in a row at some stage minus the horror start we had this year. Need to keep our feet on the ground. Don't want any premature ejaculation like some poor teenager where they replay and replay the deed in their mind and never get to experience the real thing.

In footy terms we aren't stiff yet.

frankly, if hardwick and co can't pull a rabble of misfits together to at least play 1 final in the next two years then they are in the wrong caper

2012 should be the year we finish 7-10 realistically. If we make finals great if we don't but we continue to develop even better.

2013 is the launch pad where we may take that jump to finish somewhere from 3-7 or even higher depending on the eveness of the competition that year if there are no standouts.

Nothing wrong with aiming for finals in 2012. If we don't make it we don't make it i think Dimma and the players can deal with this even if those outside the club will insist on reminding us.
