RICHMOND

NAB AFL Draft selections: 6, 29, 46, 50, 63, plus end-of-round-one compensation selection (Nathan Bock)

Delistings and retirements: Andrew Collins (Carlton), Ben Cousins, Troy Simmonds, Richard Tambling (Adelaide)
Additions: Shaun Grigg (Carlton)

Approach:
Having picked up Shaun Grigg from Carlton in trade week, and with disgruntled Essendon midfielder Bachar Houli expected to come on board in the pre-season draft, the Tigers have plenty of midfield depth. What they need most is a tall defender with good skills who can help out Chris Newman in the backline. With Tyrone Vickery taking time to prove himself, a young ruckman would be another handy addition.

Dream selection:
Skilful South Australian wingman Jared Polec is a likely contender to be taken by the Tigers with pick six, but given that they need a ruckman, Norwood beanpole Daniel Gorringe shapes as another genuine possibility.

--------------------------------------------------------
Other Clubs:

4. West Coast: Andrew Gaff

5. Brisbane: Andrew Gaff or Dyson Heppell

8. Essendon: Shaun Atley

12. Melbourne: Kieran Harper

14. Adelaide: Jared Polec likely to be gone so Brodie Smith or Ben Jacobs.

15. Geelong: Pat McCarthy

16. Port Adel: Scott Lycett, Brodie Smith, Ben Jacobs, Luke Parker or Jayden Pitt

17. North Melb: Isaac Smith. Shaun Atley or Brodie Smith if still around.

18. Carlton: Matt Watson or Patrick McCarthy or if both gone Jack Darling

19. Hawthorn: Jed Lamb or Matt Watson

20. Fremantle: Luke Parker

21. Sydney: Pat McCarthy if still around. Seb Tape or forward Jack Darling if he slides

24. St Kilda: Josh Green

44. Collingwood: Ben Newton or Luke Mitchell

74. W.Bulldogs: Max Otten.

Sean Atley I think is ahead of Polec or Harper.

Couldn't go wrong with these 3 but I have a slight man crush on Atley and think he has match winner tag on him.
Go Tigers!

Josh Caddy-He compares himself with Dustin Martin. He will make our midfield dangerous

Couldn't possibly pick a 2nd ruckman with a 1st rounder in the space of 3 drafts. Wont happen hopefully

Gorringe is the only ruck candidate we'd look at with Pick 6 and he's considered a CHF option as well as a ruckman.

midfielders are gold...you can always trade for a ruckman.  Just ask the pies with Jolly or even the swans who lost Jolly and picked up the mummy.
Whilst I have respect for TV, ziebel and sidebottom had had more immediate impact.

Please get the best available at pick 6 and trade for needs later as blair hartley said.

won't happen but wish gaff would slide to us

Yet on the other hand, if you have multiple quality ruckmen you can always trade them for good picks in future drafts. Decent ones will often land you a 1st & 2nd rounder. Now granted you would rather trade away your rookie ruckmen, but you can get a decent return from their development.

At the end of the day, we simply need to take the best available.

Infamy I agree that you can trade them for decent picks..ala Pies gave away pick 14 for cameron wood in 07 and then again pick 16 for Jolly in 09, obviously their recruiting manager had no qualms about trading away first round picks for a ruckman and then unearthed a kid like beams at #29 or whatever number he was

but it takes soooo long to develop a decent ruckman

smaller players come in and can have an immediate impact
