RFC fan discussion night
« on: October 27, 2010, 10:45:00 PM »
Some interesting things discussed tonight by Club....(courtesy of IDGAF, Tiger Stripes & The Gun on BF)

# - Greater fan access to players

# - greater player involvement digitally IE;twitter accounts/blogs etc. (they can't be forced they have to want to do this)

# - collating and gathering all tiger media releases onto one forum

# - Club is interested in expanding the media front, looking at Bigpond Nation, facebook, more chats, interviews, podcasts. They're basically keen on involving the fans and providing the best experience possible.

# - streaming Coburg games through ours or another website

# - We also requested that live streaming of training sessions on the new site (cant recall what it was called) the club said it is a possibility.

# - using the punt rd. facilities much more on match days , BBQ's , family activities , injured players on hand to meet and greet.

# - Playing Coburg games @ Punt rd. as curtain raisers on the cards

# - much greater coverage and wrap ups from Coburg as to how Richmond listed players are travelling

# - the club is looking to take more ownership/branding of the "G" on game day. 'Richmondization" of the G, branding everywhere, maybe flag or banner giveaways.

# - Ben Cousins currently has no role now or in the foreseeable future @ the RFC (but he loves us and the door is open is my feeling)

# - When purchasing any merchandise from the AFL stores/Target etc. the club gets less than 1% of the proceeds. When merch is purchased from "The Tiger Den" the club gets around 40% of the proceeds. Complete and utter no brainer. BUY ALL YOUR GEAR DIRECT FROM THE CLUB

i really like the Coburg matches at Punt Road Oval!

if Richmond are not going to have a stand alone VFL team, then Coburg should play their home matches at Punt Road Oval and "some" at Craigieburn.

I always find this amusing - when it is all said and done the RFC have no control on whether Coburg play home games at Punt Road... the decision is in the hands of 1/ Coburg and they would need to make $$$$ from it (which they don't unless the RFC pays) and 2/ AFL Vic (VFL) - who would rather see more games at Craigieburn than at Punt Road because they have invested in that facility

I understand Coburg's positon but it's a shame that a great little ground to watch footy and in a great location with easy access to get to won't be used for VFL games. I believe they discussed the pros and cons (mostly financial) of our own ressies side as well.

Richmond should ditch Coburg IMHO and go it alone!

Got a spare $400k or thereabouts? On the back of losing $300k annual income due to the lost of the Royal Oak I can't see the RFC finding almost an extra $1m to cover it all.

Actually reading Inside Footy this week and the little snippet about how the VFL have put license fees up for the traditional VFL clubs I cann only guess what they would be stinging stand alone AFL clubs (Pies & Cats)

But yep it would cost between $400k-$500k a season
