Mac attack

There is a real X-factor about Richmond’s fourth pick (No. 51 overall) in the 2010 National Draft, Dean Macdonald . . .

That’s the learned opinion of Peter Francis, regional manager at Macdonald’s TAC Cup club Gippsland Power.

Francis, who played 158 games of league football with four clubs (Carlton, Fitzroy, Richmond and Essendon), and was a key member of Carlton’s 1979 premiership side, believes Macdonald has the potential to develop into an exciting forward at the elite level.

“Dean is very quick . . . he’s got those dancing feet.  He’s also got good hands, and is a beautiful kick for goal,” Francis said.

“He had quite an impact with us this year, kicking 43 goals in the TAC Cup from a half-forward flank.

“His work rate is quite good and he’s got a good attitude.  He’s just a really nice kid . . .

“And, there is a lot of development still left in him.  You know, he’s really only had the one pre-season with us.  The previous year, when he was at Morwell, he played two games in their seniors, and he kicked five goals twice at centre half-forward.

“So, he’s really got an enormous amount of upside . . .”

Let's hope he can meet the expectations of Francis  :pray

The Campbells only slaughtered the McDonalds once, and that was in their sleep after enjoying their hospitality Glencoe as per custom they were supposed to be neutral in the glen.  Because the Campbells were aligned with the English.  In battle the McDonalds although outnumbered, made a pretty formidable geurilla force and they made sure there was plenty of pay back.

Could actually get a game as a straight swap for King  :-\ Love to see this fellow in action to see how he goes around goals. Might be just his fitness and defensive work that has kept him back so far???

injury as well, stripes.
Being a country kid he may also have had trouble adjusting to city life?

It goes a bit deeper than that Damo.

If you grow up in a country town and move to the city ..it's a different world.
A lot of the people i went to school with moved to Melbourne to work after leaving school but many of them had trouble adjusting to city life. The funny thing is that you never really got any indication until they went back "home". Most of them seemed happy enough, but obviously they weren't

I saw him on the train most mornings in June.  I would've gone and said hi, but I had my nose in my lecture notes, studying.  >:(
