Im just about to finish school and ever since i can remember i have wanted to be in films .... so im really worried if i chase my dream and move to LA were i used to live i could financially be in trouble if my acting dosent work out ... on the other hand... not chase the dream and go to Uni and get a good job doing who knows what...

I have been tossing and turning over this and i need some Advice so can any one help me?

Try and become a movie star. If that doesn't work then head back to school or become a porn star. :thumbsup

In all seriousness, do whatever you want to man. You only live once.

Dreams can become nightmares.

Go to uni.

Or

Good luck with no show reel.
If u are in fact a true actor you should be happy doing small time theatre for 20 years and living from day to day.... Maybe then something will come along.
If not,  u just want to be famous.
Become a serial killer.
You'll meet nicer people and done properly, you can be immortalized !

Can you defer your Uni course for a year? Take next year off and travel to LA chasing your dream. If it doesn't work out then head back to Oz and start Uni in 2012.

ps. Don't you need to go to some acting/drama/film school?

I agree with MT why dont you go to a acting/drama/film school here. Try and pick up a couple of roles in some theatre productions or tv shows locally first to see if you've got the right stuff to make it. Take things step by step alot of people dont make it by moving straight to LA from sounds of things.

Dude why go to Hollywood when we have YouTube. That's where all the stars are discovered these days. All you need is a digital camera and a computer. Get some friends in, make up a few dodgy sets in the Garage and away you go! Now it may not quite be Hollywood but it could pass for Collingwood!  ;D After all isn't this all they do for Home and away?

In all seriousness TTID, Unless you can look and act like Brad Pitt straight off the bat or have a top line agent in the US already, you will struggle. I'd suggest you try and get into NIDA as a first step as it has an excellent reputation both here and overseas. Score a decent agent and see what they can get for you. I'd try and focus on local films and TV first. Well that is if you want longevity in the industry. Otherwise you might end up being typecast as zombie #3 in horror films for the rest of your life which is like playing Full Forward for Collingwood in the Alan Didak Show.

Now if you believe you have a serious X Factor that will separate you from the thousands of other hopefuls who venture to Hollywood in the hope of a break then props to you and good luck, but personally I'd test the waters here first. I know I bagged home and away but hell even Russell Crowe did Neighbours!!
