I have only one reason to go in there and that is for their muffins lol
The rest of the time, forget it, only because their glorified waiters think they're god's gift looking down their snotty noses at ppl.

Annabelles in VicAve/Bridport - whatever - is good for cakes.
And for the piece de resistance - Acland Street - Monarch Cakes - the best kugelhof in the land lol

I wouldn't go as far as saying it's my favourite but one I often go to near work is Brunetti's (yeah yuppieville  ). Alot of their cakes are too sweet for my taste but the biscotti neapolean and baci rings along with a hot/ice chocolate depending on the weather are very nice.

Although I haven't been there in a while, for muffin lovers out there  Brown's bakery in Lygon Street use to make good ones.
