Brett Deledio - Richmond's Goddard?
« on: December 09, 2010, 08:09:56 PM »
Healy and David King on 3aw just before were praising Lids' season and how much he has come on as a footballer and in Healy's mind was unlucky to miss out on All-Australia. They compared him to Brendon Goddard and said Lids' next step is to continue to play that HBF role well but also to push forward like Goddard does and become an attacking goalkicking option.

Thoughts?

yeah i can see the Goddard comparison.
I agree that he was unlucky not to be AA.
I also agree that it would be nice if he could push forward of center a little more.
I'm more than happy with the way Lids is tracking though.  :thumbsup

Pretty well sums it up willy.
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."

At this stage I would agree with you, Monk. Deledio has done a lot for a 23 year old though :thumbsup He's got plenty of good years ahead of him.

At the same point in their careers Goddard was a dead set whipping boy for St.Kilda fans. I know a few of 'em and they couldn't stand him. 'Total dud ' were the words I kept hearing from them. It's only been the last few years he's come good.
Deledio is tracking well ahead of where Goddard was at the same age.

Yep, agree with this.  I remember quite a few years back he was often in their supporter gunsights.  He didn't 'come good' in their eyes until about 4 years ago.
