DEVONPORT, the original club of Richmond team of the century full-forward Matthew Richardson, is in danger of folding after it announced debts of more than $500,000 at its annual general meeting this week.

AFL Tasmania has told the Magpies they must prove their solvency or face being booted out of the state league.

The club has produced several other AFL players including Brady and Jade Rawlings, Hawthorn premiership player Grant Birchall, and former Demons Matthew and Steven Febey.

Scott Wade screwed them let them in the league in the first place when they had a huge debt and now threatening to drop him. TSL is a joke anyways the crowds arent that big so once sponsorship contracts come back around they'll be lucky to get them to re-sign.

Sad to see a traditional club is danger of going under :(. Not good for footy.

How much has Hawthorn and having AFL games played in Tassie hurt the TFL?

Devonport shouldnt of been let into the TSL due to there debts in the first place.
But by entering the TSL it has just pushed up there bills and debt. They dont get enough people to there games to make a profit and the NTFL won't accept them back into the league.

Devonports best chance to stay alive is hope the assets can clear the debt off they have to the council than copy the fellow north-west coast football team Burnie. Where the council runs the bar and canteen and give the club a percentage of takings to pay back private lenders
