Martin shines in scratch match

Richmond ramped up it's preparations for the upcoming season with a scratch match at Bulleen this afternoon.

The scratch match was played in two, 20 minute halves and a couple of emerging talls impressed the coaching staff.

Tyrone Vickery moved well and marked strongly playing key forward while Alex Rance did very well playing in the back half.

But it was second-year Tiger Dustin Martin that was the star of the show, sparkling in the midfield. Captain Chris Newman was also very good along with Trent Cotchin and Brett Deledio.

The Tigers' first official hit out of the new season against the Indigenous All Stars in Darwin is less than three weeks away.

It was only against Richmond lol and there's plenty of positive talk coming out of all clubs at this time of the year but hopefully it's a sign our key mids are in for a big year (no 2nd year blues for Dusty) and a couple of young talls are ready to step up  :pray. Vickery being able to hold down a tall forward role would take  some of the pressure and workload of Jack and allow Griffs to take his time coming back from his shoulder.

I'm happy for all to be showing good signs. I expect our higher echelon players to continue their
positive performances from the end of last year as with blokes like Conca Houli and Grigg proving why the club sought their services but what I am more interested in is whether b and c graders
will step up this year and make the side more competitive and a more well balanced outfit.

Foley?

Considering the footy Foley has played in 09-10 he is virtually a new recruit.
He has a good work ethic on and off the field and I expect he will add an extra dimension of hardness
in the contest that will help enourmously in the distribution to our outside blokes.

If Tyrone Vickery moved well and took strong marks against any other defence beside our own then i would be pleased with this news!

Honestly, i don't particularly enjoy reading articles from richmondfc.com, it is a little biased :)

Yep.   Not articles about our football exploits anyway.

No doubt the entire reason for this article is to counter-act the dustin is unfit rumours but good to hear none the less.
