Tigers are hungry for success

Michael Warner From: Herald Sun January 28, 2011 12:00AM

FALSE dawns are nothing new at Richmond, but captain Chris Newman says the latest rebuild is for real.
On the day the Tigers secured car insurance company Bingle as a co-major sponsor, Newman said belief was growing that the dark days are almost over.

"That's the main feeling at the club - there's just a lot of belief in what we are doing, not only on the ground but off it," Newman said.

"We've got some really good people around the club now and good people breed good culture. The belief factor is huge."

The Tigers are shifting into the new $20 million training and administration centre known as the ME Bank Centre and are close to signing a second major sponsor.

The Punt Rd Oval is also being remodelled.

Newman said the players now must return the favour.

"We haven't made it easy on the staff, in fairness, but if we can just win a few more games, obviously, the supporters will jump on board and make life a hell of a lot easier for them," he said.

"As a group we will mature and the more games we can play together, the better we'll get. No bold predictions, we're not in a position - we finished 15th, so we've got a long, long way to go."

Newman said he and Brett Deledio would again be stationed at half-back this year either side of David Astbury or Alex Rance.

Forward Ben Griffiths has recovered from shoulder surgery while young gun Dustin Martin is back in shape.

Good to see Axel in the promo. His presence will be that of a new recruit this season. :thumbsup

Keep your feet on the ground boys and lets hope we can transfer this positivity to on field results and ultimate success in the future.  :gotigers
