Robbo on SEN talking about Richmond
« on: February 14, 2011, 02:18:11 PM »
Mark Robinson on SEN with Hartford doing his usual Monday arvo footy segment.....

* Tigers' small forwards are too small - Nason, Nahas, King - and get brushed aside too easily.

* Concerned about Tyrone Vickery. I know it's only one game and they say big guys take longer but watched him closely last year and saturday night and he looked out of his depth again. Griffiths ahead of him.

* Liked Derickx - if he plays like that all preseason he'll play round 1. They'll need him. Liked Batchelor as well.

Nason and Nahas - 2 into 1 dont go, don't even know if 1 goes into 1 yet.
What odds Nason first player killed in a contest!

I find Vickery bashing just embarrassing. Nic Nat, who got his mug on the new AFL commercial, has had one good game.Naitanui barely touched the pill when Jack kicked 10 against the Eagles.

So again.... how many ruckman were tearing up the competition at age 20 ?

Even the great man Matthew Richardson got dropped back in 1994 (when he was the same age as vickery) for poor/inconsistant form.

Where do you see TV's best possie...ruckman or fwd?

I dont see him as a ruckman as such, more as a fwd who can relieve in the ruck  - esp with the new sub rule, 2 ruckman will be a bonus.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't concerned with Vickery..

He's still young but would like to at least see him do well in the ressies this year.

I compare him to Ben McEvoy. McEvoy had an OK year last year being a 2nd ruckman swinging forward. Didn't set the world on fire but showed he'll be a good ruckman one day.

Vickery needs to show on his day he can contribute at AFL level. Consistency doesn't matter but needs a few big games at Coburg this year minimum.

Robbo is right on the money. We are kidding ourselves playing the likes of the Fantasy island brigade in Nason and Nahas.

King punches well above his weight. Those other 2  :banghead :banghead :banghead

Con .....I believe you are right on the money- If Vickery is going to play seniors this year then he should play as a fwd who can relieve in the ruck.We have pumped 25 games into him (which is good) but he is still borderline best 22 at the moment.

When he was drafted he weighed 89 kg- now he weighs 95 kg.....I think that is reasonable progress.
How does anyone expect him to compete today against a 29yo 200cm 110kg ruckman like Darren Jolly.
Vickery has shown in his 25 games that he has "got some moves" but he still remains a long term investment.

Nahas should have been delisted last year. I think Nason will be fine. He's a wing/flanker so he doesn't have to be a tank

MT have you seen Daisy Thomas lately? Well he aint a tank either but tackles so strong and has come a long way.

Nason is a nothing type of player. We cant have White, Nason, Nahas, King, Edwards in the same team. Absolutely no way we can or we will get slaughtered this year and most years.

White doesn't loose too many one on one contests. He is very powerfull in the legs.

his disposal is his Achilles.
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."

Daniel, I agree - i cant see out best 22 including White, Nason, Nahas, King, Edwards, Farmer and Webberley - imho they all lack height and in some cases bulk.

Edwards clearly has talent and will hold his own. Kingy will hold his own as a small fwd too.  Nahas should rebound from a poor 2010 which may mean Nason is out. White may struggle to hold a spot in our starting 22 as will Webberley.  Farmer might hold down a back pocket.

In America a very popular souvenir is the "bobble head".

When Robbo talks his head bobbles like no other human alive.

Nothing more to say

On one hand I hope the Bombers fail badly this year.

On the other hand, I'd like to see them surprise many and finish in the top 4, stung into some golden form after copping a hiding from us of course. Then Hirdy and co. all get contract extensions. Duds like Winderlich, Dyson, Henry Slattery and Anus Monfries all get tied up for many years on contracts that are paying way over their worth to ward off GWS. They trade away their first round pick to us for Matt White (who has a blinder of a year and they think his pace is the missing piece of the puzzle). They also trade all their other picks away for fringe, depth players. Then in 2012 the completely fall to pieces and finish 16th, winning one too many games to qualify for a priority pick.  ;D
And you may not think I care for you
