Wasn't it stated long ago that he was back into contact training? . . . Anyways, it is a shame he wont be ready sooner but at least they are being cautious! Hopefully he can play out the rest of the season when he does return  ;D

From the Matt Hornsby chat in Jan:

Hi Matt, thanks for coming on for this! How is Ben Griffiths going now? He looks important to our chances ...

Ben is involved in all non-contact training, we will be progressing contact through Jan with the aim of being unrestricted in Feb

That was the aim. Good to have targets but if you can't meet them then better to wait until your 100% than push it and risk further injury just to meet a goal. Don't think it's panic stations quite yet.

Actually it's good news re Griffiths

Means they are taking it slowly, building up his strength in his shoulders and not rushing him back - works for me

doesnt work for me, I was told he will be right to go ROUND 1 :banghead

..so because you were told he would be ready for one then he should play regardless?  :banghead

Careful Al, comments like that will end up with you called an imbecile :birthday

It's only fair that now we're 18th on the ladder, I show the faith back in the club and do everything I can to put them in front. In the end, I'm stoked I made the decision to stay. I f***ing love this club”

Is it just me, or does the fact that he's appeared to miss his 'aim' by so many weeks SCREAM that he's redone his shoulder?  ???

Griffiths has all the time in the world to come right. We needed Moore in the side though for this game, looks like Thursfield had better stand up then!!

Very worried about Griffiths shoulders. This does absolutely nothing to allay concerns.

His orthopaedic surgeon was satisfied with the operation and I know that for a fact ;)
The club realise how important this man is in the long term and as such are not going to be forced to rush him in prematurely.

Be patient.  No one can guarantee anything, but rushing him definitely will not help.

:gobdrop :gobdrop looks like you were fed dud info jack  ;)  :rollin :rollin

It works for me because I never expected him to play any NAB Cup/Challenge stuff because of what I was told  ;) ;D

Very worried about Griffiths shoulders. This does absolutely nothing to allay concerns.

See Mr Magic I see it the other way.... easiest thing to do is throw him out there when the strength in the shoulder isn't  right, he cops a knock and it pops again and we all jump up and down and say he's stuffed his shoulder again. Cautious approach is what needed here as we are talking about a 19yo kid not a fully developed 24-25 yo bloke

Shoulder reco's are tough ones. I know someone who had one and they told me that like a knee it can take considerable time to get over it; up to 12 months to get the strength right and then your confidence back. All depends on the type of reco in that in is determined by how "tight" the muscles in the joint were stapled/stitched back into the socket

Was told by the coach they were aiming for round 1, that was some months ago, beleive what you want. ::)

I would say that was said more in hope than reality. I recall late last year being told Big Ben will more likely be back by round 5 which is about late April. An extra week or two isn't such a big deal if it means his shoulder is right.

Welcome aboard OER by the way Y&BB  :).

"some months ago" there's your problem right there. Alot can happen in months  :thumbsup

I was told after Xmas that he was likely to be back around rounds 4-5, looks like that's the plan  :thumbsup

Yes, let's hope it lifts the IQ level around here.

It seems to have slipped a little in recent times.

Cheers for the info Y&BB.
I thought Cotchin's achillies was a worry too but with careful management that seems to have been fixed & he's flying.
Foley too is back on the park so for now they deserve the benefit of the doubt on resting Griff.
