A smart club wouldn't even give him the option.

Extremely selfish of the New-Man. If he wants to stay involved he should be a leader at the VFL and get the kids through. But absolutely by any means should he be filling a spot which a youngster could/should fill.

Five weeks with a calf = too old.

Time to move on. Newman should recognise that...

If he wants an extra year, the club will give it to him - our club wont make the tough calls, too stuffing gutless

"I don't look forward to pre-seasons too much," Newman said.

Talk to Darren Glass and then go gracefully with your dignity intact and a great relationship with a club that respects you.
Who isn't a fan of the thinking man's orange Tim Fleming?

But you see, it's not me, it's not my family.
In your head, in your head they are fighting,
With their tanks and their bombs,
And their bombs and their guns.
In your head, in your head, they are crying...

wce have a dilemma and yes its off topic but not as far off topic as most think.
wce have a dilemma with dean cox. this bloke should retire or if he refuses be forced to retire.
the eagles have a bloke called lycett and while hes not taken games apart hes just getting slowly better and better. this kid is just what 21 hes ready to play regular senior footy he needs the opportunity hes damn good enough a blind man can see it.yet wce risk losing this kid if they continue to play cox in his stead. he will stay an eagle if they can give him a game other wise he will end up at p/a and it wont cost em too much. to me coxy has been in serious decline for two seasons hes still a decent player but father time is catching up real quick.

sometimes common sense says make the hard call and force the club great to retire.

we are similar with newman.  but instead of talking about a great of the game we are talking about a foot soldier. a foot soldier who has no real role left we need to play and look at some kids who we hope to be more than just foot soldiers down back and fwd. i dont believe there is a midfield role for newman. not any more anyway. what is hard for all clubs to do is possible take a small step backwards to take a big step fwd. playing lycett is most definately a big long term step fwd but cox right now is probably the slightly better performer.

newman if played fwd will take games off lennon lloyd even ohanlon who i think wont make it but woukld like for us to have a good look at. play him back and he could keep someone like mcintosh out of the side next yr. with him even though he may marginally offer more it is time to if need be take a small step back and play some younger blokes who we think can play a bit.
