Assistant coach Wayne Campbell is coming up at 6.05pm on SEN with Francis Leech and David Schwarz. They are going to ask Cambo what he thinks of Patrick Smith switching to the Tigers.

Summary

* Monday move into facilites after the cricket moves out. It'll be good not having to train here, there and everywhere as we have this preseason. Still 6-12 months before the redevelopment is fully finished with the cricket pitch removed and the oval enlarged.

* The boys have had 16 months rather than 4 months learning how we play so we should see improvement there. Also easier bringing in new guys like Conca and Batchelor when there's 35 guys around them who already know how we want to play.

* Deep talls are Thursty, McGuane and Rance. Rance has really improved in the preseason games and we've like how he's gone about it. He will play this week on one of the Crows' talls (maybe that'll be McKernan with Tippett and Henderson out). Small defenders in Lids, Newy and Batchelor. Impressed with how Batchelor's come in. Cambo mentioned we'd like a Ben Rutten type in our backline.

* Conca to be settled in at half-back and push into midfield; Batchelor a natural running half-back. This may allow Lids to move more into the midfield.

* Astbury more a CHB; the other tall defenders he talked about before play deeper in defence. Dave's going well and come on quicker than expected.

* Helbig was Cambo's smokey. He's doing Dimma's lawns lol. Always helps when you're the coach's favourite lol. He's improved over the preseason and will get a chance early on in the season.

* Finals haven't been mentioned. No targets in terms of wins. We're expecting improvement whether that means 7,8 or 9 wins. If we got to 10 we'd be pretty excited but at this stage not looking at it. Ox thought we should be aiming as high as possible.

* Round 1 flogging and Cuz doing his hammy did put us on our heals two years ago in Terry's last year. Last year we had a bunch of young players so despite the loss it didn't put us back. We would like to start the season well but the reality is round 1 is no more important than round 2.

* Foley has showed over the preseason he'll still be a good player for us.

* Vickery kicked 5 goals against Port and played well last week. Will play forward this year. Derickx, Gus and Browne will fight over the ruck with Ty chipping in now and then.

* Ox suggested Patrick Smith might become our mascot.

* Ox said we are not a chance of making the Top Eight. Not yet anyway. Essendon, North and Melbourne ahead of Richmond.

No mention of Post or Griffiths playing big roles up forward this year?

Interesting in terms of dynamics. Batchelor playing down back means Connors will play off the wing and if Conca can rotate through the midfield and HBF this will allow Lids to spend more time in the middle. I would imagine this will not be the norm early in the season but the Conca/Lids switch could become more frequent as the year progresses.  ;D

Never hurts to be a Brown-nose when you're a first year and down the list of recruits to boot.  ;)

Love to make Ox eats his word here. I think we may well be better than Essendon this year and perhaps even Melbourne but I'm a biased supporter so who's to know  :shh

Was going to change that to "Love to make Ox eat his poo" and throw in an EFA, then i realised it really is the same thing.
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."

Yahweh? or the great Clawski?

Did hear that the expected meteoric rise of Melbourne that you read in the papers over summer is no given. There is some talk that Bailey has a teaching background but isn't very good at working with his players. Unlike Hardwick who does both.
"The money might have been better. But, at the end of the day, Richmond showed faith in me. It's only fair that now we're 18th on the ladder, I show the faith back in the club and do everything I can to put them in front. In the end, I'm stoked I made the decision to stay. I f***ing love this club”

But they have had lots of top 20 draft picks, surely success is a given....

Would love nothing more than to see the Demons fail (along with Essendon).

I read the Demon boards a bit and there is concerns over Watts' intensity. Cale Morton also lacks a bit of it. We haven't seen anything much of Blease and Strauss.

Not every high pick is a winner. See the Hawks with Thorp, Ellis and Dowler and us with only one player left from 5 top 20 picks in 2004.
And you may not think I care for you
When you know down inside that I really do
