Flood Madness!!
« on: March 11, 2011, 01:48:43 PM »
Well I have heard it all now!!

This morning one of the flood victims from Grantham who is on the towns rebuilding committee was on the radio and told a very sad story of how things are progressing there. Firstly he said he has been to a dozen funerals in the past two weeks. Then he told the disgusting story of the fellow who lost his Wife and two children to the flood. He was donated a portable home and generator to help him rebuild his property and his life and the local council said it wasn't allowed under code and he was forced to return it to the people who donated it!  >:( >:( >:(
This is madness in the extreme. They are trying to rebuild Grantham and all they are hitting is roadblocks. About a dozen caravans were donated by one very generous and wealthy elderly gentleman but these sit on the side of the road as apparently they too are not up to code according to council.

When asked what has been done to the town so far his reply was "Well the turf has been relaid on the main street median strip". Gillard has to put down the friggin Sherrin, pull her tongue out of Barney Barama's rear end and give these people the help they need to get their lives going again. Send in the army! Give the local govenment a big boot up the ass for being so friggin insensitive! Just do something!!  :banghead :banghead

Alas, The government is now obviously suffering from a huge dose of compassion exhaustion as the people of Grantham have been left with nothing but the empty promises that Jillard made a few weeks ago. Meanwhile Whine Swine sits in his cubbly hole doing nothing until the blood clot returns!

I would've thought the State Government had the power to overrule local councils if need be not the Feds. At least in Victoria this happened with Jeff and Bracks sacking incompetent councils IIRC who were too busy fighting with each other in gthe chamber over who was more important rather than doing what they were suppose to be doing.

Hasn't 99% of Queensland been listed as a disaster zone or something like that?

maybe if the people of Grantham landed on the moon our PM Julia would have more tears of compassion. Or does Bono have to sing a song about Grantham first?......I'm not sure.
