Mike Sheahan's Top 50
« on: March 14, 2011, 02:21:11 PM »
Mike will have his latest top 50 out in tomorrow's Herald-Sun. I wonder how many Tigers make it and how high he has Jack?

Here it is.....

The pre-season top 50 is based on what players can do at their best, the post-season 50 rewards them for what they end up doing. Franklin at his best stands alone.

Brendon Goddard comes in at No 2. He might be the most complete player in the competition, yet even he can't turn a game on its head in 10 minutes, as Franklin can and does.

There have been several casualties from the 2010 post-season top 50, including such valuable types as James Kelly, Sam Mitchell, Chris Newman and Brady Rawlings.

It's a reflection more of me than them. This time of year, I'm always seduced by the thought of what Cyril Rioli, Shaun Burgoyne, Shaun Higgins and Aaron Davey will do if they play at their best rather than what others seem to do most years.

Jonathon Brown  :lol  I think his best is well past him.

#26 Harvey? It's a 2011 prediction list, Harvey will drop off.

It's a reflection more of me than them. This time of year, I'm always seduced by the thought of what Cyril Rioli, Shaun Burgoyne, Shaun Higgins and Aaron Davey will do if they play at their best rather than what others seem to do most years.

What about Cotchin, Gibbs, Hill or Sidebottom?

Not very adventurous at all.

Fwanklin #1... spare me. Ablett, Selwood, Hodge, Goddard and Swan would all be more appropriate selections. Nick Riewoldt at #5... LOL. And who the hell is Shaun Burgoyne nowadays? No way is he better than Brian Lake and Jumping Jack.
Push up!

JR8 should have been at least 10 places higher, perhaps another good season will dictate that..Lids is about right

Collingwood overrated superstar.

You'll find if the Pies have injuries this year or a form reversal where they slide down the ladder these second tier premiership players will be nowhere. Just a cheap gimmick to sell papers.

By the way how can Riewoldt be at 5 when he missed 12 weeks of footy last year and played only 2 decent quarters of footy in the finals? Hence the gimmick.

Mike just said if he re-did his top 50 he'll have Dusty in it. He has a rule not to include one year players so that's why he wasn't included but Martin is now better than what Mike thought he would be.

Sheahan sometimes is blinded by what sits there right in front of him because it sometimes doesn't reconcile with the way he though or thinks it should be. Yesterday I heard him say that he considered that Scully had a more credible year last year than Martin. Well that's mike at his delusional best.
