Goalkicking midfielders
« on: April 04, 2011, 02:50:07 PM »
My main positive from the drawn game was the number of goals that came from our midfielders. It's been a weakness of ours for a long time so it was good to see 9 of our 14 goals coming from midfield even if they came more our of necessity than planned with Jack going off early.

Martin   3
Cotch    1
Lids      1
Grigg    1
Edwards 1
Jackson  1
Helbig    1

Cotchin missed an absolute soda in the third too......could of been the knockout punch.

Anyhow I still love him.

Both Martin & Cotchin played well out the goal square later part of the match.

With the sub rule, we've gone back to midfielders resting up forward rather than coming off. I actually think the sub rule will help us long term as our midfield matures as we have a few potential A-grade mids if they reach their full potential and history shows A-grade mids (because they are so good) can also make dangerous forwards when they are played inside 50. Think Lethal, KB, Hird and Voss (kicked 7 against us one day).

He missed 2 sodas - agree though the one in the third was a killer

Yep, would have put us 14 up in the third with a four mins left in the quarter. :-\

Don't forget to add Foley to that list when he comes good, gee I miss those bursts out of the centre to 45m out and then slamming it home.... :pray

foley is getting there, he looked dangerous at times, those times will become more pronounced as he builds more miles into the legs

Unfortunately for Foley at the minute he really seems to be struggling to pick up the pace of the game.

He also seems to be running around in circles alot - LITERALLY  ;D

I think you could add Riccuitto to that group.
