Shepherding/Tackling
« on: April 10, 2011, 11:27:41 AM »
For the life of me i just dont understand how we cant address these 2 basic principals of football.

Is it not drilled into them?

Week after week after week i see incidents where 2 tigers players and 1 opposition run for the ball, and the "other tiger player just stands close by yelling for the ball, without putting pressure on the opposition.

Its basic football yet we cant master it.

They dont want to block, they dont want to tackle because they are lazy and dont care. What other explanation can you find.

I dont buy that we are young because these are very simple things that you should do if your playing at this grade.

Jackson through his faults does it on a weekly basis, King, Newy also.

Players like Connors, Graham, Edwards, Lids dont do it. Downhill skiers the lot of them. Lids is our version of Nick dal santo.

Goes great when things are good but doesnt get his hands dirty when required.

Currently a member of the Roupies, and employed by the great man Roup.

l pray for Hardwick to matchup Deledio on Pendlebury & Cotchin on Thomas. that would be good football

and if that it did happen, pendlebury will go to goal square and Lids will go with him, and we get beaten by 20 goals
Oh yeah, honorable loss ::) ::) ::)
Dimma needs to do this, If Pendlebury did go to goal square, leave Lids on ball, . :birthday

Pendles only goes to goal when he bursts upground to support or setup, Quality player l must say. Deledio should be performing the same, But his not as damaging as his lazy & just wont do it cause others around him dont lend support & his carrying them but wont put the extra effort in if that makes sence :cheers  ;D Newman dont lead by any good example & often cant read the play. l tired of our players falling over

but whats has happened is this. the oppostion realise the way to stuff us up is too take Lids out of the play, thus if he goes to a player, they go and sit in goal square and Lids goes with him.
Even happened last week during the saints game.
And it will happen AGAIN next week, you wait and see.
Couldnt believe it last night when our best player was standing in the oppsition goal sqaure and are coaches are too stupid or sacred to put him back in the middle :banghead

mate l would have him in the middle to help win the ball out & we would not have to worry who is down the goal square.
Why put your good players where they cannot create the play & create damage. Deledio has always been coached wrong from day 1.
players will see this after many years & will want out.

"The money might have been better. But, at the end of the day, Richmond showed faith in me. It's only fair that now we're 18th on the ladder, I show the faith back in the club and do everything I can to put them in front. In the end, I'm stoked I made the decision to stay. I f***ing love this club”

This is 100% on the money. Coaches put their player at FF to make lids follow them because they know he will follow and no change made which completely  negates our most damaging player.  :banghead

excellent post Daniel.
It's fair to say Jackson has had many ditractors on this forum. But whilst not a star player he is absolutely a   Beacon of example on how to play the hardball. Put his body on the line time & time again. His commitment to his team and teamates is unquestionable. Dido Newman.
Any poster who ever said a bad word about these guys I think should be a man, fess up and apologise to them on this thread!!!
The club that keeps giving.
