Have They or Will They Develop..

Post, Gourdis, Browne, Dea, Westhoff....

Where are we at with these guys?? Or more to the point where are they at with their development?

Westhoff to some degree and maybe Browne are relatively new to the system and even Dea but Post and Gourdis..

Out of the 5 players I have listed I would think that Gourdis and Post are in their last year at the club, maybe even Dea.

Does anyone think any of these players will develop into AFL players or have we been and are we wasting our time?

I think they're all in trouble to be honest. They all have to pull the finger out or they'll be out of AFL footy.

I would have to agree, we seem to have a hell of a lot of "development players" that never make it.

Do other clubs have the same amount or is it just us?? Or is it that we focus so much on our own team players?

We have a problem of relocating & settling players in a new enviroment.
This is the most important part of development

Sounds like Gourdis is in trouble
Don't see Post and Dea being there yet, not all players develop at the same rate. Post was injured in preseason and Dea was always a project player.
We always seem to expect our players to step up the moment they walk in the door, it doesn't work that way

gourdis is as good as gone.
dea was an emergency last week.
westoff is languishing in the coburg reserves - This is why we need to field our own reserves!!!

Gourdis has disappointed the coaches after doing enough to elevate himself off the rookie list last year. I think, unless he turns himself around quickly in their eyes he's a dead man walking.

Westoff is another who can never seem to push into the Coburg seniors let alone the AFL side - gone.

Dea, Post and Browne will be given another year though this new sub rule won't help Browne if Derickx overtakes him before the years out with his athletism and fire for the contest...

It's only Dea's second season, was touted as a development player, he will be given a few more seasons yet......

I dont think post is any good from what I've seen of him which isn't that much. To me he looked like a bad version of Schultz (the schultz @ Richmond not Port).

Gourdis and Westoff are gone at the end of the season IMHO.

I feel club will persist in Post's case for another season and in Dea's case for another few.

I am not sure if they will persist with Dea. Agree question mark over Post. Believe they may give him one more year to develop. Westhoff is in trouble and Gourdis if the rumours about his attitude are correct is gone.
