Debate over the levels of punishment dished out by the AFL match review panel are set to fire up again, after Richmond’s Daniel Jackson was offered a one-week suspension for a flying elbow to the head of Scott Thompson.

Tigers fans would have been fearing the worst after Jackson, who was banned twice last year, was seen leaving the ground and catching the North Melbourne man on the side of the head during his side’s stirring Easter weekend comeback.

But the Match Review Panel deemed Jackson could cop a one-week penalty with an early guilty plea – which will again give critics ammunition over apparent inconsistencies, given apparently light sentences given to Gold Coast’s Campbell Brown.

After watching the footage a few times, yes Jackson clips him, but it didn't look very forceful going by the footage, nothing on the level of Browns elbow on Ward.

1 week with the early guilty plea seems about right to me.

well they are consistent , last week they said the impact and any resultant injuries were considered, there was nothing wrong with thompson.,..Good decision

They did crucify us. If theyd given him 4 weeks like they should have we wouldnt have had to see him turning over the footy over the next month
