Tigers vs Brisbane game thread
« on: April 26, 2011, 03:13:15 PM »
Moving on to next week, what are everyone's initial thoughts on the Brisbane game?

Bookies have us overwhelming favourites which hasn't happened in a long while.

Richmond  $1.36
Brisbane    $3.00

Please Richmond .....FOR THE LOVE OF GOD,DO NOT DO A "PORT"  :pray

I think this game maybe closer than the bookies suggest.I thought Brisbane would be a total basket case this year but they have been playing with some real spirit (without winning).

Their percentage is almost as identical as ours.

We need to come out firing in the first quarter (for once) and not give them a sniff.

Midfield needs to back up their superb performance againist North. If they do then we have a good chance to beat Brisbane.

If we are improving we should flog em.

Hungry young side that is starting to realise they can compete for real at this level, just got their first win and should be pining for more. Really expect a fired up performance  - if we come out and let this one slip you really have to question the mental strength of the group. No excuses

Their game last week was pretty woeful skills wise (by both them and the Saints) so gawd knows at 0-4 how they can be confident even quietly  :wallywink.

It is a danger game though just from a mental point of view. We aren't in position either to treat any game differently just because this week we are favourites and our starts of course have been crap. The Lions get back a couple of players too like Drummond who will improve their rebound of half-back. We should win because our scoring firepower even in bursts is better than Brisbane's but it'll be closer than most people think unless we solve our first quarter problems and break their spirit early on the scoreboard.

That's it, the "old Tigers" of the past 30 years would do just that! Really need to put an exclamation point on where we are heading and set up followin Freo game at the G as a real Blockbuster and show where we are going.

Said it before! Things can happen pretty quick, if we get our tails up we could be off and running.

That said, so far we have fallen over the line against Norf  :-\

Their half-back line is probably our biggest concern if Drummond plays. Jack will have his work cut out against Merrett, but for the second week in a row we SHOULD have the quality to be able to win.
Push up!

Mitch Clark is their main man up forward, if he gets 6 or 7 marks could easily be 6 or 7 goals. Who takes him?
Take him out of the equation and wer'e half way there.
